Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
The whole adrenochrome thing strikes me as an attempt to distract the conspiracy-minded from the very real conspiracies that are coming to light and the fact that we're on the verge of losing our country. Get the right-wingers out on a limb and then discredit them in masse.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Yesterday marked a turning point for me, at which time I am now >50% inclined to believe that this is a contrived crisis. The revelation that enormous caches of PPE supplies have been held back (not by ordinary citizens, but by "stakeholders," so to speak), was just the latest in a parade of parado...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
People in the grocery store had sh** ability to stay away from me. I felt like I was at the Dojo today. Teens and olds have no concept of personal space. I'm one of those people that normally needs about six feet of space around me. I often find myself stepping back oh-so-subtlely, and more often t...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?
Has anyone here given any great thought to hard assets other than metals and real estate? 22LR seems like a pretty solid, easily liquidated choice. What else?

I found it hard to believe, also, but the California Nurses' Association website tends to corroborate this report: The California Nurses Association/National Nurses United today called on California Gov. Gavin Newsom and other state officials to sharply escalate steps to get immediately personal pro...

In today's news, Kaiser Permanente is threatening to fire any nurse who wears a mask while treating patients. https://www.naturalnews.com/2020-03-25-kaiser-permanente-theatens-to-fire-nurses-for-wearing-n95-masks-coronavirus.html Via The Intercept: The California Nurses Association and National Nurs...

Re: Not the Onion or the Babylon Bee
What's more, the ant who prudently stocks up for a "rainy day" over the course of a decade or more (typically driving a 20-year-old car while his grasshopper neighbor pulls into the driveway with a brand new, decked out truck) is vilified for being a "hoarder."

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/25/negative-rates-come-to-the-us-1-month-and-3-month-treasury-bill-yields-are-now-negative.html I have my 25% cash position in the GBill Etf which is pretty much the same as SHV. If rates stay negative, what effect would that have on those ETFS that own treasuries of un...

Re: Report from the trenches
WiseOne, after hearing that your sister is an ER doc, I surmised that you must have come from a family with a strong role model in the form of a scientist or physician. It galvanized my image of you as something resembling the protagonist in the series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. In Episode 1, we are...

It was Trump himself who referred to the "Deep State Department," in relation to all this, to the obvious chagrin of Dr. Fauci who was standing right beside him. I suppose he'd know.

Re: Report from the trenches
Couldn't it (top part of your list) just be ascribed to incompetence? As for Amazon, they're trying to discourage- shut down- price gouging. But, setting aside the C-word, what is your theory, Maddy? Honestly, I don't have a theory, but if I had to speculate, I'd say that the paradoxical response w...

Re: Report from the trenches
Please elaborate (conspiracy-theory?) Also, just curious...is your avatar photo an actual photo of a house/cabin that you own? I detest the term "conspiracy" because it continues to be used whenever a viewpoint differs from the approved narrative. That said, here are a few things that simply don't ...

Safety of Bond Mutual Funds v. Individual Bonds
I was listening to a financial commentator (don't remember his name) who offered the opinion that bond mutual funds are extremely risky at this point in time. Had something to do with the fact that every investor can dump his shares at the click of a mouse, but that the fund itself cannot so easily ...

Re: Is Denninger right about the coronavirus?
I've followed Denninger for well over a decade now, and although I personally find him to be an insufferable narcissist, his seemingly insatiable desire to be right makes him loath to engage in unfounded speculation. His penchant for banning anyone who offers an opinion without reasonable evidence i...

Re: Report from the trenches
I posted a couple of weeks ago about a friend with an obvious surgical emergency. She was literally turned away from the ER, then sat in the ER of another city for nearly 6 hours while surrounded (immune compromised due to chemo) by people hacking like crazy. She eventually received surgery, in anot...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?
I'm imagining a situation where the Treasury refuses to take any more of the Fed's garbage and begins issuing its own currency. Essentially shoots the Fed dead, leaving the individual banks holding the bag. FDIC would be used to make depositors whole, but the banks would be left hanging. Is this a c...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?
But it is my understanding that the Fed needs to settle up at the end of the year with the treasury department. All gains/losses get transferred over to Treasury. I assume others here can confirm? And if the Treasury Department, at the time of settling up, were to simply say "Not this time. . ." Th...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?
the Fed is buying Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) to the tune of $125 billion PER DAY. It sounds like they are soaking up everything toxic in the investing world on their balance sheet. "Hey pension funds, wanna use some of those dangerous securitized subprime car loans that were ab...
