Re: Fats and Health

Did your dad drink alcohol or smoke? I lost all four of my grandparents to those, three in their early 70s. Their bodies just fell apart. No, he didn't smoke or drink. Neither of my parents did. My Mom is still alive at age 95 but not doing too well. I don't smoke but I do drink which is why I cut ...

Re: Fats and Health

Therefore, if you're trying to get your shit together and avoid dying of hamburger poisoning at age 45, your first step would be to kick all vices. From there, try if possible to lose weight and stop being black. Then and ONLY then, begin to worry about whether or not this or that obscure dietary t...

Re: The increasing "virtualization" of reality

Talking with the FBI

If I'm understanding the news correctly, Hillary has an appointment scheduled for a "talk" with the FBI which is something she has said she was looking forward to. I'm no expert on these things but according to Andrew Napolitano, when you are called in for a "talk" with the FBI i...

How do you know that? (And I mean how do you KNOW that)?

I've also adopted the Golden Butterfly Portfolio with a slight tilt toward stocks and it seems to be doing well right now.

when these things aren't really possible to know with any certainty. How do you know THAT with any certainty? You're doing exactly the same thing: assuming that your viewpoint is true, and then treating others based on your own view. Reminds me of this quote from Mark Twain .... "It ain't what...

Re: Some Sobran questions for atheists

The title of this book was very interesting to me because I was once a Christian and I often "felt" the presence of God. Now that I'm no longer a believer I've been left wondering what that was all about. The author had similar experiences and so far he's doing a good job of explaining it...

2. What is experience? If you are atheist you will lose on #2 pretty much every time. I just started reading a book called "The Illusion of God's Presence, The Biological Origins of Spiritual Longing". If the author proves his case maybe  this won't be such a losing argument for the athei...
