First thing I would say is I like to split each account into its own portfolio. This is because if you put 100% of a Roth in Gold, or I use GLD. And GLD has a bad year like down 50%. The portfolio might return 5% but you are going to kill one of your best assets. The Roth. So diversity among...

i doubt i will become a professional predictor, ;D i would either feel like a fraud or a crook or add so many exceptions and qualifications to make the prediction useless, other than maybe the occasional OOA prediction here for fun i wont be predicting... i did fall bassackward into a good predict...

i doubt it hits $550 unless it hits it for a short period of time in an over correction after a bubble bursts, and even then i wouldn't try to predict it happening and i don't have any strong convictions or certainty about it....

if you are holding the 25% TSM index or s+p 500 and especially if you the have a small part of that 25% in total international index, your pp should have as much diversification into peking as you need

i am not seriously considering it (my situation cant take this kind of risk even with a VP) but someone offered the investment to me and i am curious to learn about some of the ins and outs of this kind of investing, i wont be to surprised to find few here have experience with it because of the risk...

i know somebody looking to get a second mortgage on a apartment complex for 30 + thousand at 8%, i haven't seriously considered it yet or done any real research, does anybody here have experience with holding second mortgages and have some incite into the ins and outs of this kind of investment?

i think (and i am not sure of this) that there are laws preventing confiscation of collectibles, i don't think that's any real guarantee though..

i enjoy owning them just fine, but do feel a little burned by the dealer, i cant complain to much though, because buying gold led me to study investing, which led me to bogleheads, which led me to the pp, so in the long run i guess they have already payed off.
