Re: Thinking about buying SPY calls

I was burned so many times in the past with options, I don't touch them anymore.

What about one of those double or triple levered ETFs for a short period?

Re: Sophie, we may have a treatment

tech, this is being talked about, sure.

I see some early articles about its potential use in China mid Feb. Do you know if it is being used in Italy? I have not heard anything along those lines.

I feel good about the partial rebalance as well.

Also helps gold has snapped back, though!

Re: mathjak's daytrading adventures

I respectfully disagree somewhat. I don't know what % cash would make me get through the past couple weeks if I was otherwise only in stocks. Current delta is about 35% down on S&P from high, gosh, only a couple weeks ago it seems. Same delta on my PP is 14.4% down. So less than half the drop. I...

I should have waited until Trump started talking. When he said July or so for containment time, the market started going lower.

For posterity

Well, I did it. Now for the heart rate to go back to normal.

Good thing is this now makes me a bit more vested in the positive side on stocks, which is always tough for me.

Re: Stock scream room

I am going to think long and hard about a partial rebalance today. Maybe 33% of a full rebalance. Would be nice to lock in some of the TLT gains, as stuper says.

Re: Stock scream room

The opportunity that Warren Buffett and his 100 billion+ dollars worth of cash have been waiting for has arrived. You think we are there already? We have weeks more of this, no?? I look at my accounts and want to rebalance. Am dying to rebalance. Which means it is not time yet. When I never want to...

Re: Anyone here sorry that they have the PP instead of a Boglehead portfolio?

Well, at least at the market halt here, my PP is actually up this morning, given that the weighting of TLT and cash have been going up %-wise and stocks and gold down.

So treading water for now....not complaining.

I had as much as 500k in it at one time. gold is in a bad position lately ... it ran up from the fear ,, now lost it pretty much and then some from the...

Re: Anyone here sorry that they have the PP instead of a Boglehead portfolio?

I should add, with gold at 1470 I’m starting to get that Cortopassi feeling, like why gold, why. Naturally, I would have been even more enthusiastic when it had passed 1600. But, I plan to sell some munis (vp) and add some coins, so I haven’t given up on gold. This certainly looks like a classic &q...

Re: Health care during the coronavirus outbreak

The only source of info is listening directly to press briefings by Trump, Fauci, and state governors Have you heard Pritzker (IL) today slam the Fed response and esp. what's going on at airports? I have no idea if it could have been done better, but those masses of people, hell if even one had it ...

They had the Dow off to the side during the conference. Don’t know if it was real time or delayed. Regardless, all the grade and high schools are now closed here. I heard nothing giving me any confidence. They are still talking about more testing in the future. The lady doc held up a flowchart. One ...

PP lessening volatility and smoothing definitely broken over the past couple days with bonds and gold not pulling their weight.

On 3/9 I was up 6% YTD. Today, 3/13 I am down 4.45%. 10.5% swing in 5 days, wow.

I have two girls. Only advice -- before you know it they are 16 and 20.

Each age has pluses and minuses, but that range from about 3-8 or so when you are the king of their world and they hold your hand and sit with you reading, priceless.
