Omega-3 Fatty Acids Linked to Higher Risk of Cancer?

Just saw this on time.com: http://healthland.time.com/2013/07/11/h ... of-cancer/ (hope it's ok to post a link).

I wonder what our nutritional experts think of this article...

Re: Rebalancing bands in non-symmetric PP

I see but I'm not sure to follow your 1st paragraph example: "With cash at 70% (and each of the other 3 assets at 10%)"... Probably the easiest way to put it is to take 60% and 140% of the desired percentage for a given asset class to obtain the lower-band-adjusted and upper-band-adjusted percentage...

Rebalancing bands in non-symmetric PP

There have been quite a few suggestions recently to increase the cash portion of the PP for those wanting to reduce volatility. Conversely, one could decide to also reduce the gold portion (not that I am advocating this). The question is then what should the rebalancing bands be. If cash is 35% of t...

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

The chewing stick might replace the indeed very cost efficient toothbrush + Peelu combination. I don't know how long it would last compared to the latter. One thing I like with Peelu and my soft toothbrush is that I can add flavoring, mint oils or even toothpaste to change the taste at will. And it ...

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

Peelu USA (no affiliation) sells dental fibers made from the same tree as that chewing stick. I have been using http://peelu.com/dental-fibers/spearmint-25-oz/ for years now and my dental hygienist is always amazed at how little plaque I have. I don't really like the taste of it but it leaves my mou...

Re: Stand-Up Desks

I really like it. (The leg pain I wrote about in another thread is gone, which is an enormous relief.) So what about getting numb or painful feet?  What about clots in your legs?  What are the negatives? I looked at using a standing desk though I found this: http://www.hazards.org/standing/ . Not s...

Re: Forum features missing?

Since I am sure I am not the only one checking the forums on a smartphone in landscape mode, I think it would be great to have the poster's login name just above the poster's post, not on the left. That would allow zooming onto the post, which makes the poster's avatar and login name disappear, but ...

Re: Ordering a large amount of bullion

The nice thing about gold is that even a very large order tends to fit in a relatively small package. I was shocked to discover that my entire net worth in gold could fit into a tiny glove box. This is obviously truer today than when a troy ounce of gold retailed for ~$200... I always worry a bit w...

Re: Ordering a large amount of bullion

Impressive to see three replies so fast! Craigr, to clarify, the business owner who left the country was not a gold dealer, and my story is not related with stored gold either.  The services I purchased were of a totally different nature, and completely intangible.  As HB would say IIRC anything can...

Ordering a large amount of bullion

Hi everyone, I have not purchased physical gold bullion for my PP (but am increasingly thinking about doing so).  There are many reasons in my situation for not doing so.  The main one is that the dollar amount needed to be purchased is in the six-digit range.  My problem at first was w.r.t. insuran...

Re: VS % vs PP %

Clive, I do see the utility of using the VP as a way to reduce tracking error regret.  Without going all the way to 60% stocks, one could imagine a more conservative 5x20 where 80% is PP while the remaining 20% is a VP invested either in TSM (for a U.S. investor) or in more exotic investments/specul...

VS % vs PP %

Hello everyone,

Out of curiosity, what percentage of your invested + speculated money is in a VP vs your PP?
I have 0% VP, 100% PP.

Thank you,
