Re: Sprott Intends to Make Exchange Offers for Central GoldTrust and Silver Bullion

This is how they calculated exchange ratio: NAV to NAV Exchange Ratio In connection with the Sprott offer for GTU, the NAV to NAV Exchange Ratio (as defined in the Sprott offer) is 4.3997 PHYS units per GTU unit. In addition, if the Sprott offer is completed each GTU unitholder will receive the Bonu...

Re: Sprott Intends to Make Exchange Offers for Central GoldTrust and Silver Bullion

with google finance end of day values GTU 39.42 / PHYS 8.94 = 4.4094

4.4108 * 8.94 PHYS = 39.4325 GTU

and

Net asset value per Unit $39.76

from http://gold-trust.com/asset_value.htm

so it seems they are converting to PHYS at a discount, which means we are kinda at a loss?!

US to total world market (non-US person)

I'm running 100% pure US PP despite being a non-US person (I'm planning to retire in 20-30 years either some cheap European location or Asia). Given the recent outperformance of the US market, I'm being tempted to switch equity portion of PP from S&P500 (VUSD) to total world (VWRD). Would you do...

Re: Fidelity reduces tracker fees in the UK

Still seems very expensive: Service fee This covers the costs of everything the administrator of your investments offers you. At Fidelity, the service fee is typically at 0.35% of the value of your holdings (or less if you have more invested with us). This fee reduces to 0.20% if you have 250,000 o...

Re: Australian PP with international stock component. To hedge or not to hedge?

Hedging to a currency means wanting to subscribe closely to regional monetary policies, regional market performance, borrowing patterns, social policies, etc. So, by saying I don't want to hold only Australian market, you say I want to move away from regional dependence; and then by saying, I want t...

Re: Market sizes of PP components

I know that it's not used in the design of PP, but my question is to come up with justification of why it should not be used. I'm having hard time justifying it. As part of his justification of PP design, HB has pointed out that while one or more components can tank over 50%, the winning component u...

Market sizes of PP components

What are the market sizes of the PP components and how come they don't play a role in the respective PP component weights? Here is what I can find: The U.S. market capitalization is $19.8 trillion, or 52% of world market cap (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/heres-the-map-of-the-world-if-size-was-de...

Just checked this ETF is only 50 million in AUM. I've read somewhere one should ideally avoid any ETF with anything less than 1 billion in AUM.

Re: The GOLD scream room

It doesn't matter what currency you buy gold in. Once you buy gold, you own gold and not currencies. That is, assuming that one can make commission free, instantaneous, no spread conversions USD -> EUR -> Gold -> EUR -> USD is equal to USD -> Gold -> USD Since you cannot make cost free conversions, ...

Thanks for clarification. I like GTU. It's nice to buy at discount. Hope PHYS behaves similarly.
