Re: Armageddon In Paris
The Eagles of Death Metal, the so called "American Band" at the concert hall is a band that I have followed since their inception and would likely have attend their concert if it were in my city. Craziness. What so-called; they're from California. I know, but from the media I have watche...

Re: Figuring Out Religion
MT, It seems that the Pope was suggesting that morality "grows" as human society learns more. I believe there is a core morality that everyone has, it just requires a proper cleaning of the glass to see it properly. But I was mainly +1ing the YouTube clip from Bishop Robert Barron. His w...

Don't jump to conclusions when coming across difficult passages in the Bible. Fr. Re: PSA: I now have a 3-year period with no gains
The US PP has gone through many three year periods of negative (near zero) real returns. This is not outside the operating parameters of the US PP, whether we like to admit it or not. http://i59.tinypic.com/6h0nzp.png (Understanding the above graph: The data measures the trailing 3 year compounded ...

Bloomberg says the 30 year bund is at 1.58% Is that not right? Yes, thats right. How much of a loss was it from the lowest point (I guess 30yr didn't go negative) to 1.58%? I want an early little taste of the masochism we have coming at us. EDIT: 30yr yield has skyrocketed from .434% to 1.546%. ...

Re: Cash Drag
Keep in mind that rebalancing into cash also causes you to occasionally sell early, so overall it is a wash. Rebalancing primarily keeps your risks in check.

Think of gold as just another currency. Except it isn't backed by a central bank, government, economy, military, etc., which makes it a very unique currency.

Hi Gosso! - The emotional part of making automatic is a huge benefit for me. Also its $40 for all your accounts as long as you use the etf model portfolio's. I also like the idea of the buying and selling being done for me on a monthly basis. I am a minimalist (aka lazy!). In all seriousness I ...

Welcome to the forum! I've never heard of ShareOwner before, so I don't know much about them, although I get a bit nervous when pulled away from the teat of the big banks. Do you know if the $40/month covers all your accounts, or is it charged for each account? If it is per account then that could...

Re: Uncharted Waters?
I'll suggest the work by Jesse Livermore (this is a pseudonym to protect his day job) who dives deep into the reliability of valuation models. His general conclusions are that valuation models are curve-fitted and of little value. Here is one graph that shows out-of-sample data for the Hussman mode...
