If 2022 is not the year of GOLD, it would be definitely the year of pain.

Re: No bid on mortgage backed securities
Days like today one can think that the time has come for the whole market to go no-bid.Jack Jones wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 6:50 am https://notoriousrob.com/2022/06/finally-no-bid-on-mbs/
Mortgage rates heading higher. Not much demand for bonds that yield negative in real terms.

Re: The PP, marginal utility, and investment "faith"
Sorry for being ignorant, but did not have time today to read the news for US - what's the current 'explanation' for the S&P/QQQ down days ? In EU we had the ECB announcement yesterday, which might serve as some explanation ... Inflation CPI higher than expected. So the freakout continues. Than...

Yeah, definitely 20% commodities held in the Ivy portfolio needs some strong conviction, given that in the short term you will buy at high price (the war in Ukraine is already taken into account, and what happens if it ends some time soon..? For markets I do not think that it will make any sort of d...

Re: What kind of inflation are we experiencing?
The whole world is experiencing inflation, not just the US. Yes, you are definitely not alone. The euro area annual inflation rate was 7.4% in April 2022, a year earlier, the rate was 1.6%. European Union annual inflation was 8.1% in April 2022, up from 7.8% in March. A year earlier, the rate was 2...

And as completely opposite to a random observation - I am completely certain that new PP investors will get better prices. One could ask - better compared to what? Well, compared to me who did rebalancing/contribution at the beginning of this year ;D So, joypog , you may have good opportunities ahea...

In my US-PP (in USD) I have been using US7 for the bond allocation and it's combination of several durations averaging ~8 yr. Feel comfortable with it and do not plan to shift. As another random observation, I do think the sentiment will change to full blown bearish at some point as stock market doe...

I would assume the same, Vil. The only thing I knew for sure was that ppnewbie was not using Apmex. O0 Inconsequential: the 1/4 oz eagle I bought using bitcoin from this forum did feel good. Should have spent more. I do not have eagles at all, should buy some, some day. To be honest I rarely feel t...

I just accidentally discovered that 48oz of gold = 88,888.88 USD. 60oz is 111,11 As mathematicians say - we are in the same basket of equivalence - I am also counting hours/days to return back home from Germany, not much to do here anymore ... ;D By the way - with regards to inflation - yesterday a...

Re: PP is Totally Obsolete!!!
Well, the truth is it's really hard to feed you/your family from farming. Even with the alluvial soil (and thanks to Danube being such an enormous river) we enjoy in Northern Bulgaria - its hard to feed a family without having to take extremely good care and work a lot on several acres. If you want ...

Yeah, nothing good ahead of us. Book shared by Vinny recently (the one about inflation) advices on going into property owning (but direct ownership, no REITs or alike) - as according to the author this is the only way to beat or at least negate the effects of inflation. Actually right wing supporter...

Re: Free book
Well, you have high expectations from me, dear forum-mates. I'd rather say Belangp's book is just fine - and as the cliché goes- it's full of unconventional wisdom (saving rate is more important than rate of returns, gold is better stock diversifier for longer periods than bonds, etc.) and its nice ...

Re: If The Stock Market Crashes Which Asset Will Save Us?
My wife and I might not be great at investing, but we've been awfully good at saving. According to Paul Belanger's new book (which is discussed in another thread) savings rate is if not important, at least equally important to the investing strategy you choose. He provided some very simple, but ins...

Re: Signatures
Speaking of German inflation (and as I am here now) - has noticed the menu stickers (the kind of transparent ones glued to the entry glass doors of restaurants) having different prices than the paper menu prices. 10-15-20% (or alike) higher in the paper menus.
