Re: Wealth Accumulation Portfolio for Child
I would rather invest in a good education (whatever form) in every part of their life. They should be able then to find their way to riches. Good we do have plenty of good universities in Europe that are not goddamn expensive ( excluding UK). However, as that's not exactly what you are asking - mayb...

Re: Figuring Out Religion
I also described both my Catholic and other Catholics I observed as belonging to a religion that was confined to that time on Sunday you were in the church. There was absolutely no carryover into how one behaved in one's personal life. That's right to the spot. Moreover, based on my observations th...

Re: Log4Shell - worst computer vulnerability since Heartbleed?
Well it depends, not sure one can really explain simply. To check whether you may be affected you should verify: JVM version - might be affected if your versions are lower than: Java 6 – 6u212 Java 7 – 7u202 Java 8 – 8u192 Java 11 - 11.0.2 Log4j version – all 2.x versions before 2.15.0 (released ver...

Re: Log4Shell - worst computer vulnerability since Heartbleed?
Had a quick look through, there is a POC already on github CVE-2021-44228(Apache Log4j Remote Code Execution). Makes sense indeed, and already can imagine some guys spending this weekend downloading and deploying the log4j 2.15 version :) And normally its about the time for renewing anti virus licen...

Re: slightly confused about rebalancing
For PP rebalancing, I think the theme has been discussed to nauseating extremes :) Though I cannot really recall of the Golden Butterfly rebalancing being discussed somewhere (nor in Tyler's site), any idea ? PS. He (Tyler) recently published a new article on his site, apparently he is going through...

Thanks for sharing. I kind of feel sympathy for Paul, even though cannot imagine holding those amounts of gold he advocates (in hindsight I know his portfolio is fine though)

Let me test the waters on his fresh one Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail - anyone already ? I'd give it a try, only fear is (as usual) that I'd need B2 or C1 to enjoy the reading. Really hate when I have to read with the dictionary opened in search m...

Onfim One of the drawings features a knight on a horse stabbing someone on the ground with a lance, with scholars speculating that Onfim pictured himself as the knight. That's an old pattern here, resembling the heroism of Saint George, one of the most renowned saints in the Orthodox Christianity w...

What happened with the notorious ZGLD (Zurcher Gold) ETF ? Think it's now (though not sure) available only on SIX and for Swiss users ...? Back then, it was popular as one of the 'marketing' points were that you can exchange what you have in the ETF to physical metal in one of the Zurcher Cantonal B...

If you're going to store gold overseas, I wouldn't do it in Europe. They aren't as insane as Australia, but they're close. Pick a country that will likely keep some level of protection going forward. That means nothing in the collapsing 'West'. They aren't as insane as Australia . ;D Spot on Pugchi...

Re: Does PP Only Work In Times of Declining Bond Yields?
I think the current bounce in TLT is a DCB (dead cat bounce), and that we will see a retest of the 200, followed by a further drop as the FED reduces bond buying and raises rates. The longer term channel would call for TLT to drop to around 120 ish. Yeah, right (its just 154 now). It has tested MA2...

I've been astounded with how much of my Amazon orders do arrive in two days. In one case the next day when it was supposed to have taken two days. Does the cholesterol run in the family? No, it runs in the massive amount of prime rib and eggs I eat weekly. In case it's not obvious, I think the whole cholesterol thing is a bunch of hooey and I only ever get it measured for grins. I have low levels of high density cholesterol (the good one), el...

Sorry, European forumites :-\ Thanks for sharing, but no worries, I read Zeihans every other day. Inflation is definitely not considered anymore as mild. Yes, its massacre in Europe. Already the air flights to/from South African countries are halted in many EU countries, due to the new strain.whatchamacallit wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:09 amIt is looking like there is a "black friday sale" on some stocks out there today.

Why did LITECOIN surge so much yesterday? Not only Litecoin, but couple of others too, read it somewhere. What I got in essence is that the price urge is due to AMC Corp claiming they're looking forward to accept some of that crap before the end of the year as payment... (a sort of). IMHO that cryp...
