Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

I can't deal with this anymore. I'm leaving this thread. Because of me giving Kshartle a hard time, and asking him to send me his worthless currency?  If so, please just ignore and go forward.  I won't be disturbing the thread again! Believe me, it wasn't you. I'm just tired of all this pointless n...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

And the fact that generation after generation of people embrace central economic planning despite its disastrous track record, well, that's just depressing. The central planners never stop trying to convince them they can get something for nothing. All they have to do is support the central planners.

It's certainly easier to use it as the excuse to bomb and invade rather than actually understand anything about it.

How did appeasing Hitler work out? I can't remember? (fondles left side of mustache). Did it cool him down, or did he do something naughty? Hmm? how did England and France declaring war on him work out? How did it work out for Poland? How did it work out for the population of the Jews in Europe? Ho...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Do you guys not understand that "consumer" has an economic definition that implies a means of payment? A robber is not a consumer in these kind of discussions. A person who walks into Wal-Mart with a credit card is. So of course the consumer benefits the producer. He purchases what the pr...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Of course a consumer will have to provide something of value.  In our economy, it is almost always money.  Our money doesn't have value, that's the thing that really screws up our economy and makes us poorer than we would otherwise be. That's what hurts our production. Our money is conjured out of ...

Do you agree with that?

Re: Islamic Terrorism, take two

Did we end up deafeting Al Queda? If we did I missed it. Or are they now our allies again, I forget? What about the Axis of Evil? Did Iran get the bomb yet? When is N Korea going to get us? I remember Bush saying they were part of the Axis of evil along with Iraq. Since Iraq turned out be a scam, di...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Something must be produced before it can be consumed. But that thing will only be produced if the producer forecasts that it will be consumed. Desert island example: I can't use a fishing rod until I produce it. But I would only produce a fishing rod if I anticipated using it because there were cat...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Overall, our constraint is supply.  But our economy is built on the VAST majority of our production being consumed on a STEADY basis by others, and using money, not barter, to do so.  Further, once a person has made a supply decision (working for income), they now have reserves that they may or may...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Nobody says that "printing money" magically makes us wealthier.  In fact, it doesn't even in nominal terms (the private sector's balance sheets don't change in nominal asset value), which is why it doesn't generate inflation the way you falsely believe.  Balance sheet changes don't make u...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

Further, if a whole economy deems a certain type of spending to be too risky, the inventory of that production drops in real value... potentially significantly.  This could have drastic effects on the profits of the producer.  Because the producer has arranged his affairs to a steady demand and at ...

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming For Us Plutocrats

In OUR economy, the VAST majority of producers require outside consumers, and steady ones at that. That is just a natural consequence of the REAL REQUIREMENT - production of something of value . If other people value it they will trade you the value they created for it. If I can produce everything ...

And I wasn't talking about fiat money.  Gold money will do fine.  I'm still at a loss if I part with it for a deteriorating material good.  If I part with gold coins to purchase a manicure, I'm in a more risky economic scenario after the manicure than before.  The producer of that manicure is in a ...

one person's expenditure is another person's income, so this idea that money spent is at the cost of savings is nonsense.  It's not about money spent, it's about production consumed. People can only consume what has been produced, but greater consumption spurs greater production to meet the demand. Right? Aren't they symbiotic? It doesn't go both ways. Production cre...
