Re: Gold ETFs old and new

I bought PHYS years ago and dislike it but I don't want to pay taxes to switch out of it. I guess I'm stuck. PHYS is a Trust & therefore isn't taxed at the Collectibles rate: it is taxed like any other ETF. Thanks for this. The caveat is that the NAV diverges from the SPOT Price sometimes Don. At l...

Re: Math for LTT purchase.

So, HB says when buying similar duration bonds on the secondary market that you should counter-intuitively buy the bond with the lower coupon because it's more volatile & you will get the difference back in Capital Gains. Additionally, the Bond, if held in a taxable acct., will cause a lessor tax im...

Re: Customers having difficulty accessing vanguard accounts

For the record , I do use their etfs , but I won’t deal with them directly or keep money at vanguard Yes, all that and the MF's don't let you buy a lot of ETF's that you might want to own. They are like the Big Brother of IRA Holders. I don't have any issues with Charles Schwab: they let me buy any...

Re: PP in Company IRA m - no long term bond?

So, if you live in the USA, you can max out your 401k AND max out an IRA as well. Just use your IRA to hold long term treasury bond and your bullion. Since it might not balance out because you can't put as much in the IRA, you can maybe buy the EDV ETF which is 30 yr Zero's or Strips, which is what ...

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

Correct me if I'm wrong but the United States is decidedly a more individualistic society in that people decide first what is best for themselves and not for the greater society. On the other hand Japan has a society wherein people decide first what is best for society. Yes and no. They're really b...

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

Italy just revised its numbers from the appx. 600k that died WITH COVID, to appx. 3k that died OF COVID. The FDA now thinks it's prudent to delay release of the data from the PFE Mrna Vaccine to 75yrs because, well... nothing to hide here, eh. Follow the money Folks. Finally, and I'm the fuck outta ...

Re: Would you wear a mask?

If you look at all the studies and Random Controlled Tests regarding masking to prevent viral transmission they show the utter failure of cloth masks and the relative inefficacy of even properly fitted N95 masks. What masking actually does is to virtual signal your party affiliation & fealty similar...

Screw the airbags and anti lock brakes. Not worth it. Safety glass…pfffft. Low risk. That’s the argument right there. (Kinda glad I had air bags though when I was in the one and only freeway wreck of my life) I value freedom over safety. Covid is way overblown, and the vaccine is likely more danger...

Re: Still Here... By The Skin Of My Teeth

This is a very dystopian time we live in now. I think that a lot of us are trying to find meaning in all this insanity. Following the Markets and Macro helps me to make some sense out of the madness. Just trying to seek knowledge can add meaning to one's life.

Yeah, I really appreciate your contributions here Hal & I'm really shocked and somewhat horrified at the direction your country has taken. Re: Does PP Only Work In Times of Declining Bond Yields?

Curious to know what other people think. If people are so convinced that declining bond yields are over, how much do you think these people should be leveraged in their short LTT positions in order to show their conviction? My 2 cents worth... The premise of the PP is that you cannot predict the fu...

Why not just buy actual T-Bills and hold them to maturity. At Charles Schwab in my IRA it's free to buy any duration of Treasury Issuance, both at auction, or on the secondary market. When I had a 401k, it had a SDA where I could've done the same thing. Maybe if you have an SDA in your 401k you coul...

belangP on YT @ evidence based wealth Channel would beg to differ on the merits of 35% gold bullion. He makes a pretty good case for a 65/35 Equity Gold Portfolio.
It's not for me, but he's a pretty sharp & compelling Guy and his channel is pretty cool.

I see portfolios such as this Dragon Portfolio as attempts to overcomplicate and fix things that don't need to be tinkered with. Yes, it's a proprietary portfolio and, of course, only the proprietor can implement and run it for you and to further complicate, one would have to be an accredited inves...
