Re: The tech-dumbell portfolio
I'm hoping my kids think I'm a genius when I pass on my hoard to them in 40 years. Right now everyone thinks I'm cookoo.

Hidden feature of the Golden Butterfly
One very big hidden feature of the Golden Butterfly is that it helps people unfamiliar with the concepts of the HBPP portfolio ease into it. As a person who has invested in stocks my entire adult life without even thinking of gold, bonds, and cash, the GB helped me make the leap. Now I can decide if...

Re: Would you wear a mask?
Just watched Dr. Chris Martensen of Peak Prosperity daily virus update. I think It would be great if everyone wore a mask to protect other people from the mist of saliva we expel when we talk. If everyone did that I think it would help tremendously. Basically your spitting on people! Also I saw a gr...

Re: Precious metal coins no longer available
From my understanding, gold is there in the form of good delivery bars. It just cannot be supplied to the mints because of the supply chain disruption. Now if the mines start closing down because of the virus and production decreases, then it could be a real decrease in supply.

Re: Precious metal coins no longer available
I heard an interesting perspective on this situation. Erik Townsend from the Macrovoices podcast believes there is no shortage of physical gold, specifically 400oz good delivery bars. The shortage is because mints are unable to take delivery fast enough because of demand spikes and supply chain disr...

Re: A CombiBar Thread
I realized one big advantage of stacking combibars is that dealers will be happy to buy them back because they are so popular. That could change but IMO I think they will stay popular.

Re: The tech-dumbell portfolio
The only thing I don’t see about this portfolio is a risk on component. Maybe the take away is that you don’t actually need risk! Although if you need to drawdown funds during a bull market it might not be the best portfolio.

LTT in an inflationary environment
What are people’s thoughts about LTT’s in an environment of unprecedented money printing. The long end of the yield curve may have to go up dramatically in order for parties to purchase LTT’s in a highly inflationary environment.

Re: Why is IAU significantly trailing the gold spot price
Thanks! So does it seem accurate to say that my expenses for holding IAU are actually the Expense Ratio plus the decay from spot price? The ER is 0.25% and the decay is about 5.5%.

Why is IAU significantly trailing the gold spot price
IAU price is 15.61 and the gold spot is 1624. Are they having a hard time keep up with the volatility of gold at the moment? I hope this ETF stays solid because my 401k did not really have any for physical gold ownership.

Gold Dealer questions
I want to start buying gold and having it stored by the dealer itself. I want the most reputable business with the longest history. I am having trouble because they seem to be alot of these dealers. I want something as stable and secure as Perth Mint, which is one of my options. I'm a little wary of...

Just some other quick differences between GLD and IAU is their expense ratios as well their custodians. GLD’s custodian is HSBC and IAU I believe is JP Morgan.

Interesting Kevin. I’ve thought about rebalancing closer to the HBPP as well, instead of doubling down on stocks at this moment.

Re: A CombiBar Thread
These bars are in high demand and I figure they will also be very easy to resell. Plus they are super cool. I think the PAMP multigrams and the maple grams wound actually be more practical in a zombie apocalypse (the imminent zombie apocalypse). I believe the PAMP multigrams are in individual assays...

Re: Is there a more perfect "bunker" in light of Coronovirus?
I was thinking of dumping the entire portion of my GB stocks into cash. I am very concerned about a global depression. And was thinking that rather than watch my stock portion sink horribly I could put it in cash and buy back in on the next rebalance. I would view it as insurance basically paying th...

Re: Gold holding companies
I’m trying to figure this out myself but I have not pulled the trigger on purchasing through one of these companies yet. I just purchased IAU for my 401k. But for my long term holdings I want to find an extremely stable company overseas. Perthmint also has some very interesting programs. I think you...
