Re: Home Defense Gun 2.0

Keep in mind we are hyper-optimizing here. Any gun is better than no gun in a home invasion situation, and much of the time you won't even need to shoot it so it may not even matter what it fires. And if you do, shooting the bad guy with anything is probably going to make him strongly reconsider hi...

Re: Water Fluoridation: A Critical Review of the Physiological Effects

Make fun all you want, but we're not specifically adding strontium, thorium or grain alcohol to the water supply.  The point, ladies and gentleman, is that crony capitalism is evil. :D That, my friend, is some mighty slim pickins.  ;) I don't give a hoot in Hell how you do it, you just get me to th...

Re: Water Fluoridation: A Critical Review of the Physiological Effects

Please make me a drink of grain alcohol and rainwater, and help yourself to whatever you'd like.  :) Rainwater may be harmful. I'm sure MG can find some paper that deals with thorium or strontium 90 remaining from the nuke tests of the 50s and 60s. Perhaps the National Inquirer has some relevant ma...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

Good discussion of being "called". Excerpts: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel”? (Mark 1:15, ESV). This is the urgent call of God to sinners; though unlike in the time of Jonah, we have no timetable. Whether the call is to sinners w...

Re: Deadly Medicines and Organised Crime: How Big Pharma Has Corrupted Healthcare

MG says:  "...explain why drugs are the third leading cause of death..."

People go to doctors.
Doctors prescribe drugs.
Drugs are available OTC.
People take drugs.
People die.

Therefore, people who go to doctors and take drugs are certain to die.  ;)

Re: Cast iron safety/iron overload

Seems to me if one seasons the cast iron effectively, which is needed for the non-stick property, the food is not in contact with the iron anyway - the food is in contact with polymerized flaxseed oil (or whatever type oil/grease is used).  What am I missing?  This worry of iron toxicity from a mini...

I can see where you fellas are coming from. To PS, Mountaineer, Tyler, etc: Assuming that debt is slightly distasteful to you to even have to use in the first place, how did you come to the decision of the following: 1) Rent vs buy (apples-to-apples property-wise (4 BR SF Home to 4 BR SF Home)). 2)...

Curious to hear thoughts on this strategy and real-world examples of how it works. Interesting to read this thread because: * Although I bought my house in cash, I took out the first loan of my life, a home equity loan (is that what all this HELOC talk is?) last year for renovation. What do you think should be done about the latest round of naked cheating from the so called Patriots? I think when you have a sport that is heavily full of "thugs" who are sacrificing their bodies for short term gain and fame, what do you expect?  As far as the naked cheating (lying?), s...

Re: My Argument To Never Pay Down Home Mortgage

My thinking exactly, except for the HELOC part which strikes me as going against HB's rule #7 if you're using the borrowed money to invest (or was that actually allowed - it says don't use margin "other than your home"?). As for the sleeping better at night thing that Mountaineer spoke of...

Excellent summary and very financially logical.  However, I went the "sleep easier at night" route which I could not begin put a price on how good it feels, and paid the sucker off quite a while back.  I have no regrets, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

You can do a whole pig in a hot tub if you can boost the temp a few degrees. I am working on the hot tub thermostat now.  Where can you find a vacuum sealer big enough to do a whole pig?
