Re: ChatGPT and what it means for our future

Well it's a bit lacking in naughty details. I told you AI will never work! :) Unfortunately, it is also quite politically correct. You have to get clever with the prompting to get it to write anything against the narrative. You would be even more dissappointed by the restrictions on DALL-E (the AI ...

I use OpenAI's paid version. That was the text-davinci-003 engine. It is quite good.

Write a letter to Penthouse forum. Assume it was written in the late 1970's. Use the style of the time. Dear Penthouse Forum, I am a married man in my late 20s and I feel that I must share my story with you in the hopes of getting advice and understanding. Recently, I decided to take a break from m...

Re: ChatGPT and what it means for our future

More relevant to the thread: what really excites/scares me is the threshold when AI becomes smart enough to improve itself in a self-reinforcing and recursive way. That's when the real intelligence explosion will happen IMHO. AlphaZero (from 5 years ago) is self taught. AlphaZero was trained solely...

The Davinci - 003 engine is even better.

Not free, but cheap. And scary good.

It is like finding a new tool. Something fearful, yet something to be embraced. A lever where none was before.

Re: Has Anyone Here Bought a Real Estate Contract?

I wonder what the rate of default is on real estate contracts (with right of forfeiture) as opposed to your normal deed of trust. I would think that when the penalty for default is to lose all of one's equity, there would be an unusually strong incentive to stay current. Of course that presupposes ...

Re: The GOLD scream room

I sold some coins a while back to AJPM (in Portland). They had a special scale that not only weighed the coin, but did an ultrasound check on it. Even though the coins were in the same sealed tubes that they were in when I bought them from AJPM years earlier, they ran each and every coin through the...

This reminds me of a fallacy described by Nassim Taleb but for the life of me I cannot remember what he named it. (etc.) It predates Taleb. I first spotted it when I worked at Intel. I had first hand knowledge, yet none of the reporting was anything close to accurate. Knowles Law of Media Accuracy ...
