TennPaGa,
Thanks to that box score you referenced, I went back and determined my father took us to opening day. I am impressed.
Thanks.

Re: Designated Hitter
TennPaGa, That is the game. I thought it ended 5-0 but my father liked leaving early in a lost cause. This game fit the bill. Berra almost hit a 3-run HR which would have put them back in the game but…. Kinda frustrating for the first game. When we consider starting pitcher, Whitey Ford, was 25-4...

The save stat may need another thread. I am sure this is why Craigr and MediumTex set this place up.

Re: Keeping wealth in the family through generations
Dualstow,
The HBPP has to get me to the "I can afford that" level first. But the younger one may want a Ph.D in an employable field. A sanctuary of some sort is needed. Put aside the elephants and ask "Can people survive people."
Twenty years and the entire forum can chat with the banker guy.

Re: Keeping wealth in the family through generations
A day later! The uber-rich have managed to keep their empires going in spite of a few knucklehead offspring. Is that when the banker guy in the grey suit dispenses some money according to the trust document? Does that banker tell the "whiners" to go stuff it and wait for the next check on January ...

Re: Designated Hitter
TennPaGa, You nailed the strikeout problem. Baseball theory/lore says put the ball in play. Typical year: Joe DiMaggio might strikeout 65 times, while Yogi Berra only 10 times. Mickey Mantle was a bit embarrassed by averaging 100 whiffs per year. You would agree there is more to baseball than HR...

barrett,
Strong candidates to challenge USD in 2 to 5 years? A reason to have 25% gold in the HBPP?

PS, MG,
Which seed companies do you order from. (Pardon the preposition at the end and that I ask this question while living 200 feet up. I used to garden 1700 sq ft at my parents' place).

Craigr, PS,
THanks. Great responses.
Do we now explore ways to keep the money spread far and wide in "Nimble Wealth."
Thanks again for the info.

Re: Designated Hitter
TennPaGa, I just caught your post on strike outs. Excellent. I don't want to assert the "purist" angle" as much as I think the game is boring. The family went with me to a day game at Yankee Stadium 10 years ago. ($5 tickets; it was a weekday). The Yankees scored 8 runs in 1 inning but that half i...

Tyler,
Did not know you were in Texas. All the best.
Did the rain miss Pointed Stick in NM?
BTW, those of us who read the New Zealand threads recently know better than to use " sorry" inappropriately. So, "all the best," Texas.

I forgot about Medium Tex. Did the water miss his location? That's Dallas, right? Was Dallas passed by this time?

Keeping wealth in the family through generations
Has the topic of passing it on through the next century or two been broached on this forum? This may be involving the use of trusts and elaborate estate planning. So be it. I have read here of concerns of leaving to the immediate family but what more do you fine people know? Also, I read about Tal...

Many of us have walked that path recently. I was pleased he left on bias own terms. That brought some peace to the time and good memories over 13 months. May you experience the same. I do look towards our next meet. We should both see barrett this time. Dr Melvey is expected to preside in China...

TennPaGa,
Lumbering outfielders and first basemen are part of baseball tradition. Ted Williams was only adequate in left field. This is all part of the tradition.
I think your thoughts are great fun to read.
Thanks.

moda and stewardship, Apologies have recently been discussed in "Best PLaces to Retire." This makes perfect sense to me. That was the big issue in the New Zealand conversation. You might wish to take your apology stuff there. The thread is, surprisingly, in "Other Discussions." Will our thread ...
