Re: Large returns on cash taking advantage of bitcoin's contango

I spent a few hours looking at this this afternoon and couldn't figure out a way to hold BTC in the same brokerage account as the future. Barring that, the separate accounts have to assume you have huge exposure. One account has you long, and the other short. In the OP's example, I would go long one...

I am not Tortoise, but IL -- HS district going full in person April 5th. Restaurants 50% or 50 people. Fans will be allowed at baseball games. Are you saying IL is not moving fast enough? I am actually surprised how fast things are starting to move. A month from now ? They are thinking about maybe ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

It is fascinating isn't it? I grew up in Texas and my parents, while not saying so directly, always looked at things with a critical eye and had no fear of having beliefs that went against the mainstream. However, about 5 years ago my wife met her biological mother/family who all live in California...

Tossup. The fear is thick in WA and OR.

West Coast, Hawaii, Illinois or NY.

Hard to tell.

If I had to bet, Hawaii. Even though it is suicidal.

I have 6 weeks reserved for late May. I’m not holding my breath.

Re: How do YOU make a martini?

I had a Margarita with my prime rib at the Texas Roadhouse tonight.

Her: Would you like a kicker?

Me: Um... Sure.

Her (cute blonde) : Sorry about the kicker, we had to do it ghetto tonight.

Me: Ghetto is just my style.

Re: How do YOU make a martini?

I was in Flora Bama last week. For the uninitiated, it is one of the seven wonders of the modern world. But... I suspected it was a shots and beer and umbrella drink bar. Much to my surprise, the gal next to me ordered a Martini, and I watched the Southern Gal behind the bar make a mighty fine Marti...

[Apparently printings after the 1970s or so changed to "Chinese man". I was in Sonoma, CA a few years ago before the fires. And the owner of the steakhouse I was at was pushing some port on me. He said that he had been at a convention and a Chinaman had the best port in the place, so he b...

Did those orgs just disappear? Is there any evidence they're still around other than a few BLM signs or pins? Was it just the communists funding these orgs to help oust Trump (along with a vote by mail fraud scheme)? Antifa is still busing burning Portland down every night. It just doesn't make the...

In the high rise condo area of Cartagena Colombia I would see tons of oldsters (expats?) being wheeled through the parks and waterfront by cute 20 year old gals. The gals would meet up and gossip and feed pudding to their charges and carry on. I got the feeling it would be about as inexpensive and d...

Wellesley (non-global) is a wonderful fund. For a long time, I’ve been tempted to employ a vp of my select indy dividend stocks with VCIT (Vanguard intermediate corporate bond etf) as a kind of homemade wellesley. Wellesley and a little bit of gold is about as simple as it gets. I'm working with a ...

While I don’t have any evidence that this is what is going on, the digital dollar feels very much like the US Treasury is evaluating bitcoin as a threat and pondering adopting the tried and true Microsoft strategy of Embrace, Extend and Extinguish. Which proved incredibly effective.

I didn’t specifically ask for 2021s; that’s just what the dealer had in stock. If the vast majority of bullion coins in circulation are from previous years, I wonder why I was given a 2021 both times. Just an interesting coincidence, maybe?
