Perhaps it is better to simply get a passive global index fund. That way it can re-balance itself each year if one region or the other grows in a higher rate than another.

Spread in Sweden is about 5% and then there is the postage fees which is rather large for an insured shipment. Also if someone in the wrong circles finds out that you got a stash. You can expect a burglary whether or not you have it in your home or not.

I do not like the physical assets, too many fees, too much spread, cumbersome and risky to store. I had a couple of bullions for a while but decided to liquidate in favor of IAU ETF instead.

No, you clearly say it yourself. The money doesn't disappear.
The money was given to someone else when you bought your stock or house or whatever, it was never destroyed. Then when you sell, you receive someone else's money.

Paying off credit is the only way currency can be destroyed.

That said, I do not know if it a good idea to enter the stock market at this moment. I am speculating that we will have a crash in the magnitudes of the great depression as this debt and QE bubble bursts open now in 2016.
