Re: Potential Benefits of a Precious Metals Allocation

Errors in table 3. Looks like they suggest 10% gold.

Gold got a big backtesting boost from the unpeg. Any of you around then, why'd stocks tank?

Cost of freedom. You cant tell an adult what they're allowed to do with their own body (fentanyl) and you cant lock up the mentally ill because it turns into the Cuckoo's Nest.

Getting rid of minimum wage would get half the bums working, but that sounds mean to voters.

Are the assets supposed to be volatility matched? If gov issues 1,000 year bond with huge volatility, should you only hold enough of that to offset the volatility of the other assets?

State wants more in taxes, and/or this is what the public wants. Its being cheered on Reddit, as sticking it to the greedy Uber executives. Democracy sucks.

Sure, but capweight is no fun. If you dont argue about the value factor, you might have to go out and do real science.

Depends how you define it. These days it means high personal freedom including freer immigration laws. Evidence based policy instead of ideology. ie governments, regulations, and wars are sometimes necessary. https://old.reddit.com/r/neoliberal/top/

The CA courts have said sidewalk sleeping is legal and also the prison population has to be reduced. I'm tempted to study the law and sue under the Americans with Disabilities Act because of the blocked sidewalks. They city would settle/pay me to go away like they do with the ACLU. Sold all my PHYS today, bought at ~1300/oz. Was ~8% of portfolio. The gain offset losses from commodities I held for a year. mathjak's comment struck a nerve, that every day you hold is like making the decision to buy it again at today's price. Will most likely buy a little AAAU soon. Iono tho, I'm ...

1) Minimum wage laws prevent barely-functional people from just walking into a shop and picking up a broom. The Gig Worker law will put more people on the street. 2) Cultural attitude shift. Insurance companies run the numbers so they can make a profit, so should we always self-insure for losses we can afford? (Odds are I'm going to lose money by buying insurance)

eg if our HOA has walls-in coverage, do I only need liability?

Re: S&P 500

the question wasnt answered, is cap weighting what the efficient market recommends? If you buy total market index do you own, for example, 1% of each company in the index? So you dont own "more Apple" than anything else. Apple has more revenue than small companies
