Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
Thought of the day: I keep a habit of filling up my car's gas tank when the indicator reaches half empty. Today that happened and I thought to myself "Oh, looks like I've triggered a rebalancing band." I shook my head at myself as I then thought "There's only one place on the Interne...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
We were joking about churches declaring themselves protests in order to open, but those gym owners that Tim Pool lives near are actually doing it ;D A Republican state senator has designated their gym one of his political locations, so they can't close it now. The last 6 minutes are excellent as wel...

IIRC, some voting official was arrested a couple years ago in the Detroit area (Southgate, but I'm not sure)

Some of the older forumites may remember the good ole days when parents taught their kids to be polite, and not share their filthy political and/or religious views with other people. Allegedly, there was once a time when people's political and/or religious views weren't even filthy. Weird. It's more...

Also, The Long Shadow by Reynolds might be useful. I haven't read it, but it's in the list of books Dan Carlin used for Blueprint For Armageddon.

Re: Could gold ever be banned again?
IMO, sure, but not banned; confiscated. Like a Mandibles situation, where the government confiscates gold to capitalize a currency. Or maybe a situation like in Germany after Versailles, where other countries expropriate real assets of all kinds. I'd think it would take pretty extraordinary circumst...

The LA mayor just shut off utilities to a house because people were peaceably assembling there. It's definitely bewildering, there seem to be so many wrong aspects to this, but nobody seems to give a shit. He seems to be comfortable holding press releases and tweeting about it. Tim is thinking abou...

Re: Who still supports BLM after this?
Yikes , Tim Pool talks about a BLM/Antifa psychopath who kicks a guy in the head after he's knocked out on the ground, now police are asking him to turn himself in. Apparently he was ID'd by 4Chan? This happened in Portland, so he'll either be released by the DA or BLM will post his bail. Tim does ...

I've bought from Colorado Gold and Goldmart. They had low premiums and didn't seem shady. No issues. APMex also seems legit. I've got Maple Leafs, Krugs, and Eages, but I don't see any issues with just buying Krugs or Maple Leafs if they have the lowest premiums. Everyone knows the most popular coin...

I've been seeing articles recently about how parents are pooling their money to pay people to teach their kids at home. A few of you guys have mentioned it too. This might be one of the only good developments to come out of the Holocoughs. I've always been casually planning on homeschooling any kids...

Re: Tesla entering the SP 500
There is no doubt that the powers that be want to move all vehicles to electric. I have to wonder tho: There are currently around 15M registered vehicles in the state of CA. The power grid can not currently handle the capacity needed (brown outs) when very few of those vehicles are plug-in. What's ...

To answer the question...it’s known as Californication in the west. People fleeing a jacked up state who then try to create what they fled somewhere else. It's known all over the country ^-^. I think a lot of us are hoping we're safe from Californication behind the loving protection of the Snow Belt

Re: Question: Rebalancing - Dick and Jane Version.
There's really not a hard answer on this. The reality is the best way to rebalance is completely path dependent meaning it's a big "it depends." I agree. There are a couple of generalities that are useful. If in a taxable account, do what avoids/delays taxes as long as possible if that ke...

Also, applies to books where you can buy them so cheaply when they are old and used. I've probably only bought 2 or 3 books in the past 7 years or so. I've done most of my reading for $1.50 in late charges at the public library, as Will Hunting would say. And, we use the same phone! I got mine to u...

So then based on that logic, the calculation of a real return is highly personal? I can see what you're saying in terms of consumer spending. But I would say that there has been a meaningful amount of asset price inflation in terms of what your dollar can buy. I'm thinking about property, rent, tra...

Hmm, what does surrounding each person in mask-like material sound like? Remember the term "cocooning" from the 1980s & 90s? I guess we could call what's happening now "advanced, government-mandated cocooning". To do it temporarily in response to an acute crisis is one thing...
