So in the past REITs have been an uncorrelated diversifier in backtests? With financialization increasing, should we expect that to continue? They crashed with stocks in 08. Whats the macroeconomic/real world explanation for why they might outperform total stock market. Leverage? Companies leverage ...

Re: Bubble in Passive Investing?

Nothing wrong with indexing, unless its something indirect like people thinking stocks are safe now because they cant lose it all on a single bankruptcy. And Im not sure PE measurements are adjusting for buybacks. There is a persistent human bias to not want to buy companies with bad press (value). ...

Re: Largest College Admissions Scam Includes Hollywood Actresses and Coaches

Is means testing for education and medicine a bad thing? You have more $ you pay more if you send your kids to a nice college. If you dont have kids, you pay less income tax toward education. If you decide to take the risk and not buy health insurance, you get means tested and pay the "inflated...

Re: Gold as Actual Money - Sucks

Most gold mines are outside the US. So as an American, no thanks. We could just stop printing dollars. "If we just froze the monetary base tomorrow then inflation would way undershoot expectations, we'd almost certainly get falling aggregate demand and the price level would subsequently fall. A...

Welcome to the forum OP
I use ibonds and Orion's 4% checking
With some effort you can buy more than 10k ibonds or EE bonds each year
