Yeah, that keylogger I put in your laptop has really helped me get a jump on things.
It's pretty cool when an unloved asset becomes somewhat more beloved. And one that's so easy to hold and free to trade.
Well, I'm looking forward to the new international data!

Re: Understanding Cash Will Make You a Happier Investor (Tyler)
I was frustrated with accounts like that, like a Traditional IRA that I didn't want in the first place, In the end, I used up all the cash by buying mutual fund shares (not cash-related at all), leaving only US$500 or less in a money market account. I keep cash in taxable where have room. When I rer...

Are these accounts that you aren't adding to, and will never have more than a few thousand?
By the way, I don't think SHY is so bad.

Always easier to manage someone else's portfolio. I wish we (my wife & I ) could manage each other's. Hmm, not going to happen.

Interesting, the difference between rebalancing and not rebalancing over the years. It's one of the harder things for me to execute in a disciplined manner. I try to keep it to once a year max if no bands are hit, but I did stocks more gradually, over several moves. On the other hand, I don't find i...

Re: The Bond Dream Room
Can you explain why it's advantageous to buy bonds at auction as opposed to on the secondary market? The auctions are just something I never pay attention to. Thanks for your help. I think i have a better answer for you, although it still doesn't amount to advantageous. In keeping with the theme of...

Great OP Sophie. I was a mod on a non-investing-related forum once upon a time. I was a longtime member, and the mods there were pretty inconsistent. Some heavy handed, some too lax, in my opinion. It wasn't long before I became one of the heavy handed among the new mods. While I thought I was acti...

Like the O.Henry story.
I do worry about that. My father in law is a bit of a boaster, a Chinese in China. I can never show him my gold coins or even tell him of their existence.

It's funny, I hold many of the stocks in your list: KO, CVX, VZ; used to hold PFE & SPHIX. I usually don't sell, period, unless I have a very compelling reason. It's like a homemade Wellesley fund.

to answer stup(e)r , the gold portion i keep 100% variable 100%? I was sure that you had a core 20% in gold for the golden butterfly. So, you're not really running a g.b. portfolio? Btw, I don't know how it appears to others, but for me the smugmug image is illegible. I tried every which way to loa...
