Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

So starting from today no more Russian gas for Poland and Bulgaria. Yesterday evening Gazprom decided they really do not like us. I am out of BG for several weeks now, but preparing for a dark, cold days following my return...

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

Yes, they were discussing this since some time, but already Medvedev (I think) threatened that if it happens, Baltics will become gunpowder cellar with more than enough loaded nuclear bunkers ready to target the new regions. Though its questionable whether there aren't such bunkers existing already

Re: BelangP's book out

Well, in the video shared kindly by Hal some of the rationale behind is explained, Paul gets 6 USD from every sold copy regardless the form, and in the case of physical media most of the amount goes for the color printing (and in the hardcover case - for the glossy paper). But its strange also that ...

Aha, I like him too. Weird enough its part of the Kindle Unlimited, so I downloaded it already, waiting for the nights to be read ... By weird I mean that its hardcover cost ~57 USD, paperback 30 USD, but its still a part of the unlimited program (which you can normally get for much less..). Do not ...

Re: Are most people here sticking with Treasuries?

You either get taken out by comparing it to what's hot and feeling you've missed out, or you get spooked by holding something that scares you. I see other possibility too (assuming nested egg cannot still cover early retirement) - if one see PP as substitute of earning money from other sources. Per...

Yes, of course they do, however only 2 types - common circulation coins and commemorative coins. They do not mint any sort of coins that can be used for precious metal investing. Commemorative are definitely not in that class - as they are normally minted in quite limited series and its very hard to...

Re: The GOLD scream room

Stocks are down. Hooray for gold? Always hooray for gold. The major retail seller of gold coins in BG had deliveries of approximately 1-5 weeks (i.e. not in stock). Haven't seen that since 12 years, just in the recent days they got enough in stock. By the way, an interesting fact (and another hoora...

Re: Are most people here sticking with Treasuries?

Just read "The psychology of money" by Morgan Housel for second time. One can get fooled by the fact its short and quite easy-going read, though I cannot stop recommending it due to being kind of generous in investing wisdom. " There are few financial variables more correlated to perf...

Just bought some today, to cover the losses from YTD when I rebalanced by contributing new/fresh money. If they fall more (as it seems) - will buy again .. And will tell the kids they need to spend less on Chinese toys, as LTTs are falling (thanks for the argument :D )

My English students in Moscow were heavily into Sepultura. I had never heard of them until they mentioned the band. This was 1994. Of course. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend any Sepultura concert as their original lineup (with Cavalera brothers) broke at some point late 90s. Though have bee...

over the past 18 months the PP has lost quite a bit of purchasing power in inflation-adjusted returns You mean Rowland & Lawson are promising things they cannot deliver ;D Joke aside, does 60/40 deliver any better (haven't even checked to be honest) ? 18 month period - isn't it too short for wh...

Re: Gave up on "pure" Permanent Portfolio in EU

The surest way to benefit from the roaring inflation, mediocre results of the stocks and abysmal drowning of the bonds is to start a platform for anything that promise >4-5% real. I think very soon even promising to just beat the inflation might be very well accepted by the audience. In any case - p...

I wanted to write this post for a long time. Hats off, foglifter for the effort sharing your story. I am really not in position to comment too much on this war, as more I think, more confused I personally get. PS. Yes, they still produce Слънчев Бряг, but I do not think its the same quality it used...

The latest (=yesterday) ICBM launch was broadcasted by KCTV in a new music video format. Watch here

Speechless. I really fear Western civilization do not completely understand the mentality of those people.

For the European PP using SXR7 and SXRJ for the stock piece . Piece of DBXG and (mostly) DBZB for the bonds. There are evidences that global bonds (as DBZB) may benefit EU investor for various reasons. See for example nice article from Vanguard.
