Re: West Provokes Russia to Protect Russians in Ukraine
Since we're lobbing hypotheticals here... What if the west told China that if they supported the west they could have the former territories controlled by the Qing dynasty and seized by imperialist Russia back? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Manchuria#:~:text=The%20Russian%20Empire%20annexed%20...

Re: The Twitter Files
And, some Twitter stats from here to underscore that it is NOT something that reaches everyone in this country: It would have taken only ONE Twitter user with an 386 computer and an internet connection to disseminate the revelations at issue to to the world at large. They were that explosive, and w...

Re: The Twitter Files
For those not emotionally involved, this is a pretty good summary of the twitter files... However, as experts point out, the First Amendment protects people from government infringement on their right to free speech — it doesn't compel private companies such as Twitter to permit unfettered speech. T...

Re: Question for SilentMajority about Information Sources
Hello SilentMajority, One of your recent posts stated that US news networks are basically state-run media functioning as mouthpieces for the government. I agree with that whole-heartedly. I'm curious if you would be willing to share the information sources you find to be helpful? I'm always struggl...

Re: The Twitter Files
From the standpoint of results, is there any practical or indeed moral difference between the "softball" versions of A and B? Moral? Not sure that would be my choice of word. Let me flip the question. What is immoral in the scenario being described? Free speech is a legal protection enumerated in t...

Below is from the NYPost two days ago. I'm sure this is just perfectly normal. It's some isolated incidents, or evidence that a lot of liberals worked at Twitters. It's definitely not a lot of FBI agents working in Sr. roles at Twitter, transferring money to the company from the FBI budget to contr...

It was interesting reading the posted actual letters vs. Taibbi's interpretation of them. Spoiler Alert: You will find a lot of ex FBI, CIA and military types in the security and safety arms of large American corporations. Wonder why? Option A: Vast deep state conspiracy to infiltrate every element ...

I'm in a sentimental mood regarding pets this week as we finally had to put our bunny to sleep due to advanced uterine cancer. I'm a total wimp with these kinds of things. I broke down crying about six times the first day, four times the second day, and two times yesterday. So far, none at all toda...

Re: Deep-State Lies
+1 on glennds and Maddy's comments. There are posters here now that I think are way off the rails in terms of what they believe the facts to be and their analysis of them. Having learned my lesson in the "Great Covid Wars" my response now is non-response. However, they bring a viewpoint and do so wi...

Re: Ukrainian Immigrant Interviews Jimmy Dore
And you guys probably don't think that the CIA lied to get us into the Iraq war after 9/11 also, right? And they didn't lie to get us into several other wars down through the ages, right? Somehow, people are willing to believe that lies happened 20 or 30 or more years ago, but right now at this mom...

Re: The Twitter Files
I couldn't agree with you more, but I think you might be missing the point. The discussion I'm prompting isn't as much about election claims as it is about the tendency of some (many?) people to rattle the Constitution sabre whenever something is not going the way they'd like. Or stated differently...

Re: Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger
One of the best burgers I've ever had: a peanut butter & jelly burger with bacon and cheese. There's something similar at one of my favorite places where I live. it's just the Peanut Butter burger though. Hamburger, bacon, cheese, PB, siracha sauce and red pepper aioli. I couldn't get myself to try...

Agree with the general feeling on a Chinese holding company. However, I think the location, local laws in effect and the auditing/auditor is probably more important. If the vault is in the US or UK with a western auditing firm I'm not that concerned. Move the vault to Bejing, use a non-western Europ...

Re: Died Suddenly
Yes, the age-range filters are very interesting. The 24-44 year olds had a big jump in excess mortality for about 7 months starting in July 2021. Is there any explanation for that? When did the covid vaccines roll out? It's a good thing they got the vaccine, because obviously covid was a big proble...

To be clear, I'm certainly not anti-vaxx or vaxx hesitant for that matter. Also to be clear, I do not want to reopen the board Covid wars. Do you know whether the four people in your office who died received the boosters in addition to the original two shot vaccine? Including the most recent "bi-valent" booster? My PCP seemed to be a little skeptical about the need for the most recent booster, but we didn't have a long conversation ab...
