Re: Simplifying fund choices for the PP/GB

Here are my current preferred funds. Stock fzrox and vti Gold iaum and gldm It has been interesting watching the price between these two funds. Gldm seems to get higher gains at first and then iaum will catch up a day or two later. Cash cltl and sgov I feel like cltl will beat sgov in the long term ...

Re: Best Cash Back Credit Cards May 2023

Vinny, I wonder if the denials may be related to your other thread about the money supply if banks are holding off on new loan accounts. I haven't tried applying to any credit cards in maybe a year now but I also did have trouble in the past getting approved for new cards when I was just trying to g...

Re: Best Cash Back Credit Cards May 2023

Here is the thread ppnewbie started not too long ago. https://www.gyroscopicinvesting.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12481 I did learn something from that thread and now have the Citi Custom Cash for 5% off groceries instead of the American express card I was using with an annual fee. American Expres...

TACK Fairlead Tactical Sector ETF

I just learned of this fund while listening to this Wealthion video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r355gMJWoz4 I wasn't getting much out of the video until I heard her say the fund is currently in long term treasuries, short term treasuries and gold. After hearing that, I had to look into it more....

Re: iShares GOVT as bond holding

It is nice that you can get good results without using bonds at all. I was doing something close to that back when rates were so low I couldn't bring myself to buy the bonds. I figure you might as well just do 40 , 40 , 20 to make it symmetrical like the golden butterfly of course. Check out how low...

Re: iShares GOVT as bond holding

I sold my long term treasury funds today and plan to buy GOVT to replace them as soon as the cash is settled. I decided to stick with 4 x 25 but use GOVT instead of long term treasury funds. I also found statistics for the value of all outstanding marketable treasuries broken down by notes, bills an...

iShares GOVT as bond holding

https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239468/ishares-us-treasury-bond-etf#/ I have been intrigued by this particular ETF for a while now. I don't see much else like it. Its duration would indicate it is an intermediate treasury bond fund but under the hood it is more than that. From what I can tell, i...

House Dems To Biden: 'Hands Off Assange!'

Another from Ron Paul https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8layGKQIc-Y A group of House Democrats have sent a letter to the Biden Administration demanding that all charges be dropped against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Yesterday marked his fourth year being held in the notorious Belmarsh prison in ...

President Kennedy?

Ron Paul's discussion: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s filing papers to run for president yesterday has thrown a massive monkey wrench into the 2024 US Presidential campaign. Suddenly it looks like the seemingly-ailing President Biden will have a real challenger for the Democratic Party nomination. But how...

Re: Hedging Against U.S. Dollar Losing Global Reserve Status

I can't think of another currency to hold besides the substantial gold that is already in the permanent portfolio. I will say that I wonder if we are actually about to see an unexpected rise in the value of the us dollar. I have been hearing everyone and the media speaking about the fall of the us d...

Re: I'M OUT!

I think long term treasuries may actually have the most short term potential so I like them again as of right now. I would really like to hear your reasoning on this. Just going off the history of the last 30 years. I am not sure anything has changed enough to change the trend yields were on. Here ...

Re: I'M OUT!

I think long term treasuries may actually have the most short term potential so I like them again as of right now. If you absolutely don't want long bonds, then you can still stick with the 1/n portfolio strategy and get very comparable results using the other 3 assets without long bonds. You can do...

2-Year Treasury Yield Vs. The Fed Funds Rate

This article is quite entertaining since it is from 2019 and predicted the yield crash of 2020. Based on their metrics, it would predict a yield crash incoming now that the 2 year yield is below the fed funds rate. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4231960-watch-2-year-treasury-yield-vs-fed-funds-rate

I have not, but I just recently heard about it on a monetary metals podcast. I am pretty sure I heard that it is not yet a USA product.

+1 with Vinny. I have also had a lot of hand wringing recently on what would be the best fund to use for stocks but have settled on a total stock index fund. I was looking hard at some active funds as potential candidates but I didn't have enough faith they would out perform. I leaned more toward fi...

Gold - THE MOST CORROSION RESISTANT METAL!

I just stumbled upon this video that shows some scientific experiments with gold. I especially enjoyed the section with acids dissolving gold. Best I could tell, they could not destroy the gold. They only break it down into smaller particles which I assume must just be more pure gold than the .999 g...

As a lifelong insomniac I can get on board with the body wanting to stay awake for 30 to 40 hours. If I didn't have to live by a schedule I could see getting into a sleep schedule that did not revolve around a time of day at all. I can't even comprehend being able to sleep for 10 hours and feel pret...

I decided it was time to get back into long bonds sometime last month and went pure permanent portfolio in the accounts I was able to in. My thought process was that your best opportunity to take advantage of long bonds is when the yield curve gets as inverted as much as it is now. https://www.longt...

I wanted to hear some context from Harry himself so I listened to this show 05-04-24 - The effects of interest-rate changes on the economy https://youtu.be/R34Bct2OKFM?t=2224 It seems to me that the context is a world where the 30 year treasury bond is the longest dated bond.
