How generous of them.

Nice windfall for Experian and TransUnion who aren't waving fees.

Re: Equifax hack

I was one of the hacked IDs according to the Equifax website - so I enrolled in the Trusted ID Premier program. Wasn't sure I wanted to at first. They say the hack occurred through the website. So now they have a link to a new program where you give them all your information on the website. Say what...

Re: IRMA

Just got back home after evacuating. Our neighborhood in Pinellas county was completely untouched and the power is still on. Pretty amazing because there was damage all around and lots of people are without electricity and water. Biggest worry was the refilling of Tampa Bay after it emptied (an amaz...

Re: IRMA

As for my own packing, I have a heavy bag holding about 5% of my PP packed away. Good item to remember!! Farjean, I hope your house pulls through intact. Definitely making sure all the beer in the fridge gets used up. And even more important! This is indeed a big storm, but the news stories are con...

Re: IRMA

Greetings from Port St Lucie- east coast, 14 miles inland. Seems the storm will not cause much trouble here. I'll see beginning 4 hours from now. The neighbor across the street watched our homes being built and hired his own inspector and general contractor to visit every 3 days. He said these home...

Re: IRMA

Mandatory evacuations in effect now. Current track is pretty close to worse case scenario for us. Planning on going to our stepson's place a little farther inland away from evacuation zones. Told my daughter to assume everything left behind is going to be lost and to pack accordingly. Always best to...

Was there also an Experian hack or is the thread title wrong?

I thought it was Equifax. Used to be my employer, BTW.

The expansion now covers Zone B, which encompasses Brickell, Miami’s downtown area and South-Dade, including parts of Cutler Bay, Florida City and Homestead. Evacuation orders also touch Zone C, which includes parts of Coral Gables, South Miami, Miami Shores and North Miami Beach. That's you now, r...

Re: IRMA

Stay safe, Farjean. How are you situated as far as emergency preps go? As long as Amazon comes through tomorrow as promised I think we'll be fine. Had some angst yesterday about gas because it was completely gone every where I went but finally found some so I have a full tank in case we have to run...

Well, it looks like my worries that this was going to be a repeat of 2004 after 13 years of zero hurricane activity are coming true. We now have the worst Atlantic hurricane in history bearing down on us. Evacuations orders in the county I live in are now up to Zone A and I live in Zone B but I have...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

farjean2, I suggest that you might see things differently if you did not depend on your feelings (which are internal, subject to change at a moment's notice, and from a Christian point of view are easily manipulated by Satan to rebel against and hate God) and think more about depending on an extern...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

I'd say for a moment to not think about everyone else in this case and to think about yourself instead: 1.) Do you believe you control your own actions? That's an interesting question. If I choose chocolate over vanilla ice cream is that because I have free will or is it because of chemical process...

Re: Root canals

The story of my last root canal is also the story of how I finally lost nearly all faith in modern medicine. I was feeling weak and tired and having frequent bouts of diarrhea and then when a lump appeared under my jaw I finally got worried and went to a doctor. She did a test and found blood in my ...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

Yes, I would take away my kid's freewill to choose to put his hand on a hot stove burner if he couldn't stop doing it. The Bible says that that those who are in Christ were chosen and predestined for it before the world was even created (excuse my paraphrase but I think it's pretty accurate from me...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

I look at it from a probability standpoint. If you spend your whole life (say 100 years), and every day you touch the stove and it burns you but you go back to it every day for that 100 years, what is the probability that if you lived 200 years that you'd learn your lesson and that you'd stop touch...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

When we are rebellious to the point of exhaustion, however, God has no choice but to deliver on His warnings." A child abuser could not have said it any better. Makes me really feel sorry for God, having no choice but to send his children to hell to suffer torments for all eternity. Are there ...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

I will attempt to address your request. First: God wants everyone to be with Him for eternity. Some will hear His call and others will not. Why some and not others hear that call is unanswerable, it is not discussed in Scripture. It is a mystery. Thus, it requires faith to accept, but faith is a gi...

Re: Home Affordability Calculations

I crossed the threshold about two years ago where the standard deduction exceeds any benefit from the interest deduction so it's a moot point for me now and I don't have to factor it in. Owning a home is no longer of any tax benefit to me and I don't plan on buying a more expensive home now that I'm...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

I have a question for the orthodox believers who post to this thread (you know who you are). It's really very simple. The Bible says "God is love" so it must be true. Yet, according to orthodox Christian doctrine millions/billions will suffer the never ending torments of hell for all eter...

Re: Al Gore & The Iraq War

I have often wondered, if it hadn't been for the Florida ballots or if the Supreme Court had ruled the other way, would we have had September 11? There was that Presidential Daily Brief in early August titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." outlining their plans in what may have ...

Re: The Trip to Spain

Watching on cable isn't watching for free. Watching via rabbit ears (or equivalent) is free. DVR+rabbit ears is the way to go! Rabbit ears? Didn't those go out when all broadcast signals were converted to HD? I tried an HD antenna and didn't have much luck with it or I would probably go that route....

I remember watching the original "The Trip" and thought it was entertaining in a quirky sort of way. As the description goes - "two aging actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves on a restaurant tour of Northern England". It was on cable so I watched it for free. Not t...

Democrats got us into all of the major words of the 20th century WWI = Wilson WWII = FDR Korea = Truman Vietnam = Kennedy/Johnson I read somewhere else that in all wars the score is 16 for Dems, 10 for Reps. So the idea of democrats keeping us out of war is laughable. According to this web site ther...
