Stocks, gold and cash are the order of the day.
It no longer makes sense to me to hold bonds.

Re: Gundlach on LTT's today
I finally made the plunge recently into VGLT fully, with the decline in bond prices that allowed me to sell all my individual bond holdings without incurring a huge taxable event. Expense ratio is a little lower than TLT, but the duration is also a tad bit shorter. Struggled with the decision and fi...

Re: It feels like 2008 Again Only Worse
With skyrocketing fuel prices and an economy in deep stress, this is starting to remind me of 2008, with differences, of course. This should be where the PP earns it's keep. What do you think? Except that in 2007 the 30 year Treasury was almost 5%. Now it is 2.24%. What can you reasonably expect ou...

Re: Retiring in scary environment of 2022: Invest 100% of capital into PP now, or hold cash and deploy slowly to avoid S
What are you currently investing in? Even if your money is in a savings account, 100% cash, you've essentially made a decision to go 'all in' on a 100% cash portfolio, with inflation increasing and cash completely unable to keep up. Point being, you already have a current asset allocation that may ...

Re: Covered calls and Cash secured puts in TLT, GLD and SLV
But, I repeat. Options are fairly priced. I'm not disagreeing. Let's imagine I had this in place last year, just on GLD. GLD started at 182.33 on Jan 1, 2021. Ended at 170.96 on Dec 31, 2021. Per the PP, just holding it, it was a losing year for gold. As the least "risky" case of selling ...

Last post for ppnewbie. Run far away ppnewbie, the PP is a lifetime of disappointment. I was in Analytics/BI for 15 years at a Fortune 300 company so I understand your mental makeup. The agnostic nature of the portfolio sounds great on the surface but you lose to equities on the upside and there is...

PP hurting bad. Gold and LTT’s cannibalizing each other to the downside as rates rise. Sucks for sure. Budd, you never answered my question from a few days ago on when you got into the portfolio, and what your expectations were at that time? I setup a taxable PP in 2010. Took literally that one or ...

**Sorry for the long post** I wrote covered calls >10 years ago, trying to find the highest premiums, and bouncing from stock to stock. Meh …. My feeling is a newbie should be exposed to as much information about the pp as they can both good and bad . Moving certain facts away and only presenting the good really is not a good thing to do to new bees ..but then it goes back to the discussion being flipped back in to my choices and d...

MJ said it himself that an investment should be evaluated based on its long term performance, yet it seems to only apply to stocks. When it comes to the PP, then somehow he can't understand that gold has had the longest track record of keeping its purchasing power over time but no, we must look at ...
