OP here. @ barrett. Yes, I was looking at the yield changes. Could you explain how duration effects the phenomenon? And why the LTTs are still more valid than 10 yr?
Thx

10 yr vs 30 yr yield change
the PP holds 30 yr bonds because they are the most volatile (sensitive to changes in interest rates/price). Is that true? in the recent run-up in yield after the election the 10 yr bond seems to be at least as volatile if not more volatile than the 30 yr bond. In other words, the interest rate chang...

How to adjust bond duration using cash?
it is frequently mentioned in the forum posts that people are adjusting their bond duration by holding more/less cash. Is there a simple way to understand what they are talking about and how to adjust for duration? Thanks.

Re: Question about setting up PP for withdrawal phase
Thx. follow up question: if withdrawing the cash then it is likely to cause the re-balancing of the portfolio more often, and don't both the coins and the bonds having specific values kinda present a challenge to easily shift things around/re-balance? Perhaps it will be trial and error and learning ...

Question about setting up PP for withdrawal phase
If dividends cannot cover all expenses then is it OK to use only ETFs for the 4 sections of the PP (since it may be easier to withdraw from these vs physical gold and long term bonds)? This setup goes against the principles of the traditional PP and introduces additional risks. Is there a better way...

does anyone hold iShares ACWV vs VTI?
"ACWV" did not get any hits using the Search function. It is an ETF that holds both US and Int'l stocks (considered a World Stock fund and is based on equal weighting and has assets of $3.2 bil and ER .2) Does anyone hold this in the stock portion of the PP? VTI vs ACWV ACWV only shows results start...

Re: Does the yield spread effect the volatility?
yield spread has nothing to do with volatility then. So even if the spread between a 10 yr bond and a 30 yr bond is narrow it does not effect the volatility of the 30 yr bond? In other words, if interest rates fall then 30 yr bonds still rise in price much more than 10 yr bonds even if the spread is...

Does the yield spread effect the volatility?
these days the yield spread for 10 vs 30 is very narrow. The 20 yr and the 30 yr are equal (yesterday at least). Does this effect the volatility so that the usefulness of the LTT is less?
Is the question clear?

Re: Ques about the purchase/sale of Long Term Bonds
Clear.
if you buy a 25 yr bond then, when it hits 20 yr you purchase another 25 yr bond (the original duration).

Ques about the purchase/sale of Long Term Bonds
Just getting my feet wet in understanding this portfolio - a lot more to learn... Is it the correct procedure to buy 30 yr bonds and then hold them for 10 yrs? And then sell the 20 yr bonds in order to buy more 30 yr ones? At the time of the "forced" sale there is either a capital gain or a capital ...

HB audios still available somewhere (else)?
when I click on the audios in the archives at the Harry Browne site they are all broken? There is a statement on the site indicating that the administrator is aware that at least some links are broken but also says not to contact the administrator regarding this. Is there another source for the shows?
