Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?

I don't balance them. As a government employee I do the absolute minimum needed to keep my job. I don't even know what to say, other than there should be no government employees. Even if you aren't a libertarian, you can see that the private sector would deal with this in a better fashion. Someone ...

Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?

There’s an old saying: Nobody on their death bed ever said, “I wish I’d spent more time at the office.” Tortoise This is pretty much my reasoning. I have a lot of goals in life and none of them involve working. As a government employee I do the absolute minimum needed to keep my job. There’s an arg...

I was having a hard time finding the part II of this thread — every time i hit reply, it took me to a fork about electriity. Anyway, scroll down for the cardboard sign. Same specifications as a UK Sovereign. With patience you can find these close to melt; and look at those mintages!

Re: Best Deal right now on Gold

One thing I've thought of doing is buying low-mintage, graded proof gold from countries other than the United States. There are times when you can get them for close to melt. I wouldn't do it with more than, say, 25% of my gold allocation because these coins are not nearly as recognizable as the com...

Re: Linux, continued

It's hard to get exact specs for the new machines, but it looks a lot what Dell has done in the past in terms of providing support and ensuring compatibility for Ubuntu and Fedora. The value added here is probably in ensuring that all the hardware is supported and runs well with linux, which can be ...

Re: An outsiders perspective of the politcal turmoil

I'm mostly lurking this board as there are usually some interesting threads about the PP. Of course I noticed the political threads lately and I've been pretty interested in them. As a Dutch citizen this board gives me a different perspective of what's going on in the US. What struck me is how comp...

I wish everyone well and hope you've been able to enjoy the stability and peace of mind I've had from the Permanent Portfolio over the years. If it were me, I would go with the lowest premium one ounce coin I could find. Better to take the lower premium now than hope for a higher one on resale.
