Re: Gold to bounce soon?
Should we ever complain that a physical asset is becoming cheaper? I was watching an interview yesterday where the assertion was made that this is a mainly US phenomenon; that US investors tend to be trend followers and only want to buy what's going up. It's been my experience that nearly everyone ...

AAAU is backed by the Perth Mint. But one might prefer their online depository so everything isnt vulnerable to a failure of your brokerage This. If you want it backed by the Perth Mint, you can do so directly without adding more counterparty risk with not only your brokerage, but also the fund fam...

Re: What's going on with silver?
We all know how irrational works. It can go deeper than anyone expects. I just placed another order for silver. I'm going to buy more gold soon too. My US Dollars are putting in some awesome work! I've been cash heavy for a bit and was worried about so much exposure, but it turns out that was the th...

Re: Gold Coin Counterfeit Detectors
Your best protection against counterfeiting is to always buy from highly reputable dealers. This seems to be the general consensus and I agree. However, because I'm the ultimate in paranoia, I picked up a SigmaMetalytics Precious Metal Verifier Pro. I have to say, it's finally given me the peace of...

Re: What's going on with silver?
I've been dipping into buying some physical silver once we went below $16/ozt. Seems a bargain to me. I doubt I'll get any platinum, palladium, rhodium, etc.

Re: Safe Deposit Box Location
I've been contemplating this subject a lot lately since moving into more physical gold from paper. I think the idea of diversifying locations and methods is likely the route with the least potential for being ruined. Safe deposit boxes can be drilled, confiscated, or become unavailable in a crisis. ...

Re: The GOLD scream room
I'm sure I don't have to tell you, I still hear way too many people talking about it being on sale, backing up the truck, stacking more, etc. Really? That hasn't been my experience. I hear FAR more calling gold a relic with no dividend or just not talking about gold at all. It is a hated asset righ...

Re: The GOLD scream room
Definitely looking forward to some more pain in gold. I don't have a particular target for spot that I'm wanting, but downward for now will help me accumulate. MOAR GOLD! A good friend of mine said I should get a parrot and be a pirate because of my gold (and now silver) coin interest. ARRRRRR!!!! I...

Ahh, finally a commission-free way to invest in paper gold with my Roth at TDA! A little late for me, but maybe I'll buy some anyway. Thanks for posting this.

Re: There seems to be an advantage to Roth conversion now until 12/31/2025
I'm likely too negative on Congress, but it's in their nature to expand and take. Maybe it won't happen. Perhaps a prelude to it would be reducing the advantages to a traditional IRA, pushing more people into Roths. Herd people together to do the most damage. Wow... I'm very negative on Independence...

Don't underestimate the risk of an all bond portfolio. Rising rates or severe inflation will crush you. I wouldn't trust TIPs to save you from inflation.

Re: The GOLD scream room
I'm marking my gold to market each Sunday. It seems a good balance to me.
I'm kind of cheating, because I'm using APMEX's portfolio tool which is over spot. It's still a nice way to keep track of things. It makes me want to diversify into other precious metals, though... hmmm

Re: The GOLD scream room
The best way to own gold is some way where its a little bit hard to get out of the position; physical gold. ETFs are too easy to sell. You want it a bit locked up. Then you won't worry about it. I think I agree here. Since starting to convert to physical, I feel much less attached to the daily pric...

Re: Gold Coin Counterfeit Detectors
UPDATE: Received my APMEX order today and am very happy with the way they handled the shipment. Nowhere on the box or label is there any indication of the shipper or what contents may lie inside. This should be an obvious way to do things, but I was still worried that it might say APMEX right on the...
