Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Anyone else notice that we no longer hear about super spreader events? There are packed football games everywhere. But the term seems to have been dropped.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
I believe pp4me's point is that if enough of the people in power actually don't care to protect some right, then it won't be protected, regardless of what the Bill of Rights says. Yeah, that's what I meant. Also, it's up to the Supreme Court to interpret the text and determine whether or not the Bi...

Hospitals are short staffed almost everywhere in the USA.
Hospitals are threatening to fire qualified staff over vaccination status.
Make of that what you will.

Can we get an audit of how the Hunter Biden laptop story was suppressed, of Twitter and Facebook, the CIA and FBI, CNN, etc.?
A different kind of election fraud.

Two years at junior college were probably $1000 a year, so I was putting money in the bank during those two years. I did run out of money during year 4 at state U, and borrowed a small amount.

My answer would be the same as Mark's. In the early days, I would have said I'm holding it for inflation protection. But over time I came to strongly value the latter two of Mark's three points. It has attributes that just can't be had within the realm of dollar based assets. I started out with just...

College is expensive
I had a thought last night while being waited on at Whataburger by full grown adults. You just don't see teenagers work much any more. OK, so here was my train of thought. College is so expensive that a kid cannot hope to self fund it. OTOH when I went, I was able to fund it by working summer jobs a...

Re: Germs
It seems to be part of a generalized fear-based view of the world, together with an unnatural dependency of parents on their children. Used to be that children could pile into a Radio Flyer wagon and go barreling down an infrequently traveled road. These days, the parent of a child who dares try su...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Glenn Greenwald had an insightful article today, which I admit I only skimmed, on the topic of how the elites get to be mask free while they are attended to by masked peons, photo'd by masked photographers, etc. Specifically at various political and left wing galas, but it's probably similar at righ...

Here is a CDC article about children. One interesting tidbit found in the paragraph preceding the "Discussion" heading: A total of eight in-hospital COVID-19–related deaths in persons aged 0–17 years occurred during August 2020–August 2021 (0.4% of hospitalized patients). 8 kids dying in ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Well the slope of the Florida 7 day average deaths curve (I looked at a few sites) is heading downward at about a 60 degree angle. We just don't know where it will bottom, but a normal chart interpretation would suggest it is indeed crashing. I still say (hope) that this time will be the charm, so t...

What a useless asset. I’ve held for 10-12 years and doubled my money. Selling today. A CAGR of 6-7%? That doesn’t sound so bad. The problem is the opportunity cost. Over that time I would have quadrupled my money. You should have mega remorse for not loading up on Bitcoin 10-12 years ago.

Getting COVID is a much higher risk for getting blood clots than taking the vaccine That's probably bad math. Because, the odds of getting COVID are not 100%. I don't know all the numbers but if risk of clots is 3x higher from Covid than from the vax, but the chance of getting Covid is 10%, then th...

No, I don't know how VG proposes to handle any of it. I don't know if we are interested but it would be nice to know more. I should look into it at some point. I wouldn't view it as part of the pp at all. More like a business investment.

I'm suspicious of Biden's motives, but so far I have to strongly applaud his stated explanations for getting us out of there, and his disdain for remaking nations in our image. And of course Lindsay Graham is very angry. https://babylonbee.com/news/republican-politicians-vow-to-get-real-mad-and-stuf...
