Re: Forum Members with COVID-19

I suffered a sore throat and cough with a bit of chest tightness while feeling really hot. But I never had a temperature, and eventually I noticed that it usually happened after dinner. It turns out I have a few food allergies I wasn't aware of. Benadryl did the trick. And now that I'm staying in an...

Re: Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories

The whole hydroxychloroquine episode is actually nothing new as far as medicine goes. Something comes up that is promising based on lab and some crappy/anecdotal/observational clinical studies, so you do a clinical trial on it - preferably more than one, so that you can show the results are reprodu...

Re: Where do TIPS fit into the PP?

So why would anyone ever prefer cash to a TIPS? Because a nominal bond always pays more in interest than TIPS of the same maturity. Everything has a tradeoff. The tradeoff with TIPS is that they pay lower interest rates compared to nominal bonds. That difference in rates represents the anticipated ...

Re: Would you wear a mask?

I do find the mask-wearing skills of our political leaders pretty amusing.

Chair of the congressional coronavirus taskforce, Sheila Jackson Lee.

Re: Predictions for covid case count 12:01 AM 3/22/2020

I heard that non-COVID ER visits have gotten a lot scarcer. Everyone's wondering, what happened to all the strokes and heart attacks? It's weird. But I guess some people are just riding it out at home because the idea of going to an ER packed with COVID patients is not so appealing. I've been track...

Re: TDS discussion thread

Ohio state legislature representative "says she'll press crimes against humanity charge against Trump over hydroxychloroquine promotion" in The Hague. link ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D via Tim Pool , who really nails it, as usual. Yikes. That's truly insane. To cleanse the palate: Detroit rep says hydroxychlo...

Almost every politician is a narcissist. Trump just doesn't bother trying to hide his narcissism.
True. But other recent presidents didn't hide it either. People just chose to ignore it depending on their political preferences.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

More potential good news: US scientists link BCG vaccination with fewer coronavirus cases Long story short, countries that still regularly vaccinate for tuberculosis seem to have much lower death rates than those that do not. They're testing that theory now, and if it holds up to scrutiny the TB vac...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

There are definitely times I think people don't want to hear positive news... Rational people working themselves into a frenzy over worst-case scenarios while not just ignoring but attacking any positive news (see the bile being spewed over real-world hydroxychloroquine results) has been one of the...

Re: Trump as tragicomedy

I personally think people need to tone down the blame game and focus on solutions right now. But if we want to honestly evaluate the media and government response to the coronavirus, I feel it's important to apply the same standards to all people regardless of political affiliation. There's a TON of...

Same in my county. But how effective are “mouth coverings” that can be made of almost any material?

Re: Would you wear a mask?

Mandating something that's in a shortage and most people have trouble finding in stores is like something the Three Stooges would have come up with. Unless the California county you're referencing is doing things differently, the other cities I've seen already do this are mandating mouth coverings....
