Re: Weird Weather

Oh, the horrors. You should try enduring a windy Chicago winter to know what it really means to shiver. No disrespect, just yanking your chain, guy-to-guy. :D Been there done that. Did my basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. They made us wash our clothes and hang them out in buc...

Weird Weather

I know you have all been hearing stories about heat waves and maybe experiencing it yourself. Down here in Florida we had a heat advisory a few weeks ago which is the first time I had ever heard of such a thing. I think the temperature got up to 96. On the other hand I can also report that this is t...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

I wonder how long it will be before we have "Human Rights Tribunals" for this sort of thing like they have in Canada. If this ever does come to the U.S.A I think they are going to need a lot of judges because those courts will be very busy. Your statement reminds me of something I heard recently: I...

Re: Gold spot price

I don't think there is one official source for the spot price for everyone to tap into and even if there was, it would vary depending on how often whatever you are looking at gets updated.

The only price I ever pay much attention to is what my broker is willing to pay for my coins.

Re: Trump as tragicomedy

Things could be a lot worse as far as the MSM goes. Back in the old days all we had was the evening news on CBS, ABC, and NBC and publications like Time Magazine and Newsweek. The liberal bias was palpable. When Cable and FoxNews came along it was therefore like a breath of fresh air for a paleo-con...

Re: The Permanent Mental Health Regime

I've been working on my medical degree lately by watching youtube videos by Peter Attia. Here's an article of his discussing this very thing and others when it comes to what we actually know about heart disease (or maybe it's more accurate to say it's about what we know that isn't true). It's writte...

Re: Spend safely in retirement

Tell us how you managed to marry someone 17 years younger than yourself! It must be an interesting story. ;) Well, one reason I married a much younger woman is because when you are a 55 year old widower looking for both a wife and mother for your 4-year-old adopted granddaughter the pool of women y...

Re: Spend safely in retirement

I didn't wait until 70 because I was unemployed at age 62 and didn't want to dip into my savings as fast as would have been required had I not taken SS. I effectively waited until 66 because I later got a couple of jobs that paid too much for me to collect SS for four years. However, given the make...

Re: Spend safely in retirement

I'm already retired so this advice won't do me any good but I have mostly followed this strategy to get where I am (just got my first SS check 10 days ago delaying to age 70 and it was almost the max amount you can get). One suggestion I would add is to start living on the budget you plan to have i...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

OMG. I had always thought of Planned Parenthood as serving a useful role for underinsured or uninsured women, but this latest move is beyond ridiculous. It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad!!! So is the next step to throw the cast of Monty Python in jail for this? https://www.youtube.com/watc...
