Re: BTC in the PP

I think that is already a certainty, but I don’t see it as a response or acknowledgement of btc as a dollar threat if that’s where you were going. Ok so if CBDCs are coming and CBDCs are for: Monetary supply manipulation, complete surveillance, complete censorship, Government controlling your tax r...

Re: BTC in the PP

I think the US government recognizes the benefits of embracing bitcoin outweigh the risks (if any) to them. The bitcoin network is only resistant to attacks from non-economic actors and so the only entity in the world that it isn't resistant to is the US federal reserve because they control money t...

Re: Did Bitcoin Kill Gold’s Monetary Utility?

A good testing ground however for pre CBDC, let others take the risk of ironing out security flaws before adoption/rollout of their own version. What do you see in common regarding the code/tech/features/incentives/game theory/goals between BTC and some USD-CBDC? AKA: what is there that could be re...

Re: What is Your Crypto Portfolio

Okay can we get back to personal crypto portfolios? I like Bitcoins in my portfolio. Ill throw a couple alternate ideas out as well. 1. Buy BTC, collar it. Buy spot BTC and then sell a call against it and take the $ from that sold call and buy either a put spread or puts. Example for September 2022...

Re: BTC in the PP

LTTs and Gold seem wildly speculative to some folks. But they have track records. I largely agree with this, ofc. But keep in mind their track records could actually prove to be very dangerous. If long bonds begin to correlate with stocks (which I believe is happening more and more), and gold stops...

Bitcoin will go down in history as the biggest Ponzi Mania of all time IMO. The only thing that I worry about with regard to my HBPP is that these central planning mindf*cksters will disallow my ability to maintain a PP going forward. This is what keeps me awake at night. These "Woke" Jac...

Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

I do not believe that any crypto-currency will replace gold as a store of value. I say that because I believe that most countries, including the US, will digitize their currencies and effectively negate the need for Bitcoin, et al. .. It would be neat if the digital dollar and digital renminbi caus...

Re: Did Bitcoin Kill Gold’s Monetary Utility?

Will be interesting to see the consequences of if Btc is permitted to grow enough to stabalize and undermine the financial system. Where money is pulled from commercial banks causing a runaway bank-run. I very much suspect however that major central banks will prevent things from getting that far. ...

Re: BTC in the PP

The problem with the concept is that the PP is not designed around wildly speculative assets, but that's what BTC is for now. The PP assets are designed to be volatile because we are choosing the asset that gives you the best capital efficiency for the type of risk exposure. Each PP asset carries a...

Re: Gold outflows, bitcoin inflows

This is one of the coolest aspects of Bitcoin IMHO and it is called the difficulty adjustment. If more people are trying to mine bitcoin, the algorithm makes it harder, which helps keep Bitcoin's emission of new coins on schedule. So if a ton of new miners join to mine, algorithm makes mining "...

To the tulip guys, do you distinguish between Bitcoin being in a (series of) bubble vs Bitcoin being a bubble? For example here are a bunch of bubble pops that have happened in Bitcoin: $30->$1 $260->$40 $1200->$200 $19k->$3k $65k->$28k I think even us die hard Bitcoiners think there will be another...

Re: Gold outflows, bitcoin inflows

I'm just kind of going down the line that drastic value changes in either direction are way more unlikely with the dollar (which is the main reason I don't have anything in Bitcoin). Bitcoin seems to be short term volatile and long term value up. USD seems to be short term stable and long term valu...

Re: A worthwhile read for all PP'ers

how much value the BTC network can secure is something that can be determined based on its market cap That’s just it, you can issue tokens on the bitcoin network that are NOT BTC tokens. And, in theory, the value of those issued tokens could be much larger than the native BTC tokens on the network.
