There’s an old saying: Nobody on their death bed ever said, “I wish I’d spent more time at the office.”

Re: Wealth Transfers
In that case, why doesn’t the U.S. just print money to fund 100% of every foreign country’s expenses? As long as those countries are using their own resources and their own labor, our sending them money isn’t a drain on our wealth, right?

Re: Trump is Definitely NOT giving up
There were accusations that Twitter was censoring conservative news outlets because it blocked the New York Post story about Hunter Biden and locked down the New York Post's Twitter account. However, what all the conservatives were overlooking is that the New York Post was never a Trumper conservat...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
“Walking something back” is just an example of a metaphor. I recall that the use of metaphors is discouraged in Strunk and White, but sometimes they do help to drive a point home (to use another metaphor). As in most things, I suspect a balance is best. No need to eschew metaphors entirely, but just...

Re: How Do You Balance Work And Leisure?
And I agree with Mark's second post. Except for me it wasn't the relationship, it was the first kid. And the change to single income and responsibility. This rings true. Now that my first child was born five months ago, I feel like my age of conquest is over and I’ve started a very different new ph...

I can imagine Rodney Dangerfield doing a bit about the whole head-butting thing.
"I'll tell ya, I've heard of girls who like to give head, but this is ridiculous! Huah!"

Re: Thank You Donald Trump
The government has destroyed huge swaths of the economy with the covid response, and people are getting desperate. The solution is to re-open the economy and deal with sick people the way we always have. Absolutely. But it's starting to become clear to me that the economy probably won't be official...

Re: Free books!
A. First the library has to have the book. That's the purpose of contacting the library (either online or by phone) to request that they purchase it. That was the whole point of my previous post. If the library doesn't have the book you want, you ask them to purchase it, and they usually will. B. I...

Re: Free books!
Yes, it is irritating that libraries don’t have infinite funds with which to purchase multiple copies of every ebook in existence so that everyone can find and read every single book they could possibly want without ever having to leave their home or talk on the phone with another human being. ::) V...

Re: Smartest Man in America Is Convinced the U.S. Election Was Stolen
Fair enough, guys. As I already noted in the OP, the fact that Langan has the highest IQ in America doesn’t mean he’s right about everything. I was mainly pointing out that evidently not all of the people who think the election was stolen are mouth-breathers. By the way, Vinny, while we’re discredit...

Re: Netflix junkie
This relates to Hulu, not Netflix, but I’ll post here anyways.
Has anyone here watched the fourth season of Rick and Morty? The episodes written by Jeff Loveness are outstanding, especially “The Vat of Acid Episode”, which won an Emmy award.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
That cartoon kind of reminds me when people complain that the stock market must currently be overvalued since it's at an all-time high. If you look at a historical chart of the stock market over many decades, it's hitting an all-time high a significant portion of the time. Because it trends upward o...
