Re: What Does Life Look Like For You Now?

The Body Science (as does Rippetoe's book) makes the case that strength training is far more beneficial for the heart than is cardio. My anecdotal evidence seems to support that. Funny you should mention this. The other day I decided to measure my blood pressure and heart rate. My blood pressure wa...

Re: Finally antibody testing is available relatively nearby!

Has anybody here taken a SARS-CoV-2 antibody test yet?

I took one a couple of weeks ago (super-accurate one recently developed by a local biotech startup). Result was negative. So apparently the brief fever and head cold I got back in early Feb when I traveled to Germany for work wasn't the Wuhan.

How do they plan to deal with public transportation in crowded cities? NY subway, London tube, buses, etc?
Cities in Korea, Taiwan, etc. use crowded mass transit without spreading viruses like wildfire. Maybe we should ask them how they do it?

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls

Didn’t the polls going into the 2016 election suggest that Trump was going to lose, yet he won, suggesting that a lot of poll participants may have been embarrassed or just unwilling to openly admit that they planned to vote for Trump? If so, what does that imply about these polls for the 2020 elect...

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls

However - I predict there will be some pretext to cancel the debates and limit Biden's public appearances to a small number of brief, carefully scripted events. Even more I bet they will be heavily edited, and perhaps touched up with his past speeches, before being released to the networks. There w...

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls

You (pmward) live in a state where your vote for president might actually matter this November, so I’m assuming that’s the main reason you’re getting bombarded with political spam texts.

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls

Biden is going to get smoked in November, and so is the Democrat party in general. I thought so, too, until I recently realized that the left's motive appears to be maximizing national panic and economic damage to prevent Trump from being a "wartime president" who presides over a quick social and e...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Can you elaborate on what you mean, using whatever terms make the most sense to you? The Covid-19 death curves that the epidemiologists have shown us are all shaped roughly like bell curves — steep rise in the beginning, slower rise as peak approaches, peak is reached, then a tapering off. The area ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Can we all agree that the virus will inevitably spread throughout the population until it "burns out" via herd immunity? Or do some folks reading this thread believe that we can completely eradicate the virus within a reasonable timeframe before that happens? No I do not think it's the case that it...
