Re: Trump tax plan?

Can someone please explain to me why anyone runs for office? Is it really power? For someone like Trump? I think it's a desire to stay relevant. People who have everything except for the realization that they will soon return to dust and be forgotten: Lucilla saw Verus die, and then Lucilla died. S...

This is the thesis of Covey's 7 Habits book. It's an excellent book despite seeming cheesy.

Re: Rebalancing Hypothesis

Jack, I don't understand what you mean by only rebalancing assets that are beyond their bands. In your stocks 35%/bonds 20% example, would you sell stocks down to 25% and leave the rest as cash? What if the original allocation was 35% stocks, 25% cash, 20% bonds, and 20% gold? You'd rebalance to 25...

Rebalancing Hypothesis

If we accept that rebalancing locks in some gains due to momentum or volatility, perhaps we should reconsider the standard advice of setting all assets back to 25%. Has anyone backtested a strategy where you only rebalance the assets that are out of the bounds? Rebalancing long bonds from 20% to 25%...

I feel like this article covered the issues very well:

tldr: United didn't have the right to eject the passenger.

Re: Nobody believes in the Permanent Portfolio

I bought my house on XXX stock I bought at $00.14 and sold at $3.75. I fear that move may plague me throughout my lifetime into thinking I can win the stock market bet. Right now, I am $(a large number)K up on several stocks, but also $(large number + 5)K down on some others. All this investing and...

Re: RyanCare/TrumpCare

I'm not convinced the practice of charging Mexicans less than Americans is a bad thing. Mexicans get a life-saving drug that they might not otherwise be able to afford, and the drug companies still get properly remunerated for years of research. Why do Americans have to do everything? Why do we hav...
