Re: Corporations and Political Speech

Jafs, With all due respect, your focus for the majority of that discussion was on the control of speech .  Although you appeared to acknowledge, later on in the debate, the more general issue of corruption in politics and the role of campaign contributions in the peddling of influence, even then you...

Corporations and Political Speech

Recalling a recent thread addressed to getting the money out of politics, I found it interesting that the overriding concern of the left-leaning folks was on silencing the political speech of conservative organizations-- not on ending the quid pro quo culture that has made Congress the bought-and-pa...

Re: Indoor CO2

For the longest time, I've been scratching my head about the fact that "green" building regulations continue to mandate airtight living spaces coupled with more and more elaborate ventilation systems designed to overcome the problem of. . . you guessed it. . . airtight living spaces.  Can anyone exp...

Re: Permanent cookware

Another link from my bookmarks (again, haven't had time to investigate) http://www.grainmillcomparison.com/ I'm surprised the reviewers didn't include the Country Living Grain Mill.  At the time I researched them (admittedly a number of years ago), it was the gold standard among the homesteader typ...

Wow, three pages in, and still no attempt to articulate what specific "rights" homosexuals do not enjoy.

Re: Market-based medical care

It would be better yet, though, for physicians just to scrap all of the above and charge cash for visits. In your opinion, why don't they? The all-cash model effectively shuts down the cost-shifting game.  That means losing the ability to do great works of altruism on somebody else's dime.  Price t...

Re: Market-based medical care

The Surgical Center of Oklahoma is an example of an institution that has gone to an all-cash model.  http://surgerycenterok.com/  It posts its prices up front and expects cash at the time of service.  Not surprisingly, its prices are a mere fraction of what's being charged for similar procedure...
