Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

(Paul Tudor) Jones, the founder and chief executive officer at Tudor Investment Corp, said the U.S. may have trouble following contact tracing and other methods used by other nations to contain the virus quickly because of how Americans feel about individual freedoms, “Americans are too different. I...

Re: Healthcare jobs, which are best options for career change

I could see mental health techs committing a lot of suicide after dealing with millennials in such large doses. Maybe that wasn't such a good suggestion. I disavow my previous post, and now promote plastic surgery. I want to commit suicide after hearing Millenial women speak... vocal fry and "thank...

Re: How Bad Is Unemployment?

On a sad note one of my favorite chain restaurants, Sweet Tomatos, won't be reopening. Add another 4000+ to the ranks of the unemployed. We will be seeing a lot more of this. Darn I loved their soups! And super convenient next to the gun store and gold dealer on Interstate 10! Gold bullion, chicken...

Re: Credit Union CD’s vs. BIL for cash

I'm the heretic here, I think if you don't need the liquid cash, go for the CDs but only if it's an "A" rated institution.

Re: I-bond Rate May 2020

So when the I-bond fixed rate is stuck at 0%, then the strategy is just buy in future periods in that calendar year because, hey it might go up?

Jan 1 - Apr 30, May 1 - Oct 31, Nov 1 - Dec 31 are the three periods.

Re: Tactical Asset Allocation + HBPP an intriguing combo

But yeah, GEM has no appeal to me personally. If this still highly valued market goes risk-on again, I'm not going to use a binary all-in, all-out monthly strategy like GEM or even the SPY-COMP family any longer. I'm not going to post the GEM signals any longer. If we go risk-on again before we hav...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

My Dad was super ill with 1968 Hong Kong Flu. I remember him totally crashed out in bed. I was in 2nd grade at the time. He was an MD. Probably got it at the hospital.

Re: Justifiable heresy? This fund as a LTT/STT substitute?

Today's 30 years are yielding 1.29%. If the rate goes up only to 2%, the holder takes a 16% capital loss. That's way shy of the trend line. If you get up to the trend line, like 3%, you've taken a 34% hit. No fun at all. I think any reasonable person would have bailed long before then. LT bonds are ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

In our project planning for Q2 and Q3 2020, our base case is now that the re-opening fails, and we have to continue working with our clients as we have been lately - 100% remotely.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I know this will probably sound heartless and appalling to some people (probably the same ones who don't want kids playing in the park) but I can't help but think of the beneficial effect COVID is having on reducing the enormous cost of end of life care in this country and others with aging populat...

Re: Stock scream room

My spouse has $15k long in TIAA, I don't want to be in there trading her stuff. It's a good fund. I could buy RWM, which is inverse Russell 2000 which is full of unicorns with no earnings. That would be long / short, long quality names, short dogmeat names.
