Re: Rebalancing ?

I did it 3 weeks ago with no regard to current pricing.  There was no other way to do it, otherwise I never would have!

Looks Like Today is No Place to Hide

Every holding getting creamed today.

You heard it here first.  I decided to go into the PP.  There is now going to be 20 years of negative returns with it...

Re: Will This Time Be Different

It is funny seeing the struggle people have with PP and the allocations to try to "time" the market or injecting personal assumptions that stocks are too high, bonds are too high, cash pays no interest, wanting to allocate more to gold because of world events, etc. I have spent 5 years thinking stoc...

Re: Rebalancing ?

But even with Ukraine, the stock market is rocking and gold is dropping... As I've found over the past five years of event after event after event that should have, would have, could have, sent gold to the moon and stocks to the depths, look where we are at! I know "I" cannot predict, and when I do,...

How to value physical gold going into PP?

In setting up my PPs using VTI, TLT, cash and existing physical gold, I am setting up the 25/25/25/25 percents using current spot price for gold, even though I am using the physical from a "bucket" of physical that I have had for a while at a different average price. What makes more sense for tracki...

Converted 3 of 4 accounts to PP!

I'm the guys who has been overweight in metals and miners for 5 years.  Yesterday, after seeing the drop in the stock market and the nice bump in gold, I took the plunge and rearranged 3 of my 4 accounts to PP style.  This morning, as usual, I listened to the 1 minute business report on the radio an...

SHV vs. Cash, I am sure this has been covered 1000 times

HI, I have setup a couple PPs, one in an IRA, where SHV is available and one in a 401k, where no short term treasuries are. The 401k by default, the cash is sitting in a TD Ameritrade Money Market. The IRA, I'm not sure I am clear in reading some of the other posts.  I can leave it as straight cash ...

Why I need the PP!

Sitting looking at my accounts right now, all way too heavily invested in gold and miners for the past 4-5 years, thinking yet again, gold is going to go sub $1100.  The rollercoaster needs to stop! While at the same time, the market continues on its merry way. It took me WAY TOO LONG to find/figure...

Re: How do you spread the four assets across different accounts?

Thanks for the responses.  I'm pretty sure I will create PPs for each account.  Mentally feels better for me.

How do you spread the four assets across different accounts?

Yet another new to it question, looking for opinions. I have four accounts, a 401k, my and wife's IRA and a standard brokerage account. Who recommends treating all 4 accounts as a virtual single PP with the four classes spread across the accounts optimally for taxes? Or who would run four separate u...
