Re: Data on Re-balancing Bands for Taxable vs Non-Taxable Accounts?

When you think of rebalancing bands, here are the thought processes that go into it: There is some volatility harvesting that comes from rebalancing. True - and it varies slightly with the band width, but not by much - and it varies with the amount of trending that the market is doing. (sequence of...

Re: Data on Re-balancing Bands for Taxable vs Non-Taxable Accounts?

Thanks for the response. I just headed over there and found a post from "weltschmerz" that I think you were referring to (https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15434&start=3250): Here's a graph of the total return of the PP, comparing the 15%/35% bands, vs. the 20%/30% bands, vs. no rebal...

Data on Re-balancing Bands for Taxable vs Non-Taxable Accounts?

Hey everybody, I know that it is often cited that for a vanilla PP a 20/30 re-balancing bands were ideal for Non-Taxable investment accounts and 15/35 was ideal for taxable accounts... but is that actual data to substantiate that available anywhere? I am sure most people in taxable accounts have a l...

Re: Is Denninger right about the coronavirus?

Everytime I listened to him recently he was saying that if you go on a ventilator you will die. Sure thing. Guaranteed practically 100% of the time. He kept quoting the same source that had something like a sample size of 26 people. As this thing spread he kept quoting the same source day after day...

Re: Is Denninger right about the coronavirus?

Denninger has always seemed a bit "off" for some reason to me. Often times it seems like he bases his information on some evidence, makes his conclusion, but then will disregard new data that does not support his initial conclusion. That is why he deletes and bans people from his website that disagr...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?

Haha. Well, the Fed is not acting in isolation. The whole world is doing the same thing. The last 12 years we have been stuck in a deflationary spiral. All the liquidity they've supplied was not even enough to average 2% inflation. Eventually the inflation will come back. But when that happens, wil...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?

A couple things. First, if you invest in a foreign asset, and their currency appreciates, your asset appreciates by the currency spread. There is no "hidden tax" here. The underlying foreign asset may appreciate in price by the currency spread, but not in your actual value, no? Let's say that the v...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?

And if the Treasury Department, at the time of settling up, were to simply say "Not this time. . ." Then what? I suspect that would just print more Federal Reserve Notes to cover their losses. Then without being tied to the Fed, they could print up all the money they wanted for themselves, friends,...

Re: Fed Going Nuclear - Will the PP get radiation poisoning?

the Fed is buying Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) to the tune of $125 billion PER DAY. It sounds like they are soaking up everything toxic in the investing world on their balance sheet. "Hey pension funds, wanna use some of those dangerous securitized subprime car loans that were ab...
