Re: How many people agree with MR/MT theory described on the forum

Kshartle, With demand below productive capacity, what makes you so confident that it's market distortions, not just a simple lack of demand, that is inhibiting investment? If there was adequate demand for a widget, and you knew the nominal price of the product would go up by over 3% every year (may...

Re: Tapering called off

Are you saying that wages and prices didn't drop during the 1930s? Some prices dropped. Many were prevented from dropping by law. I won't bother you with links, if you're interested to learn about how the recession was turned into a depression that information is all out there. I think that a LOT o...

Re: How many people agree with MR/MT theory described on the forum

When does anyone think that prices will start rising in a strong and sustained upward direction in response to Fed policies? I'm assuming we all agree that prices have been pretty stable (especially wages) in the five years or so since the Fed began its "printing." All I hear from people is how har...

Re: Tapering called off

All that needed to happen was for wages and prices to drop . Rapid drops will be tough even if the government doesn't impose controls. Paper has no magical properties though. Well, I guess if were an alien looking at humans I would assume it's magical since people will do anything for it and trade ...

Re: Tapering called off

Kshartle, There is some healthy level of debt given a certain amount of productive investment.  With the same amount of gold servicing an ever-growing nominal debt-base, it will eventually fail to meet those demands. Unless you're arguing that our total aggregate debt plus interest to be paid shoul...

Re: Tapering called off

Unless you're arguing that our total aggregate debt plus interest to be paid should be limited to the amount of gold already in mined existence, which would significantly hamper investment. How on Earth could you limit loans? Loans are limited by the risk a lender wants to take and the availability...

Re: Tapering called off

As I've already explained, the Fed can never stop buying bonds, because if they do, the markets will crash.
Again I have been shown to be correct, but of course no one will ever admit it.
That's the fate of all Cassandras: always right, never acknowledged.

Re: Free market solutions to problems vs. Government

I used to subscribe to that angle. Until I was discussing my agnosticism with a friend who said, "Agnostics are merely Atheists with no balls." So now I am an Atheist rather than an Agnostic, because I hence saw the lack of conviction. I mean what is an Agnostic really? It's all about faith or lack...

Re: Hello all

If most companies in the world go bankrupt or to zero, what do you want to buy with your gold? Currently most of the large US-companies are selling their stuff all over the world, so even when the dollar collapses they won`t be out of business. Some posts in this thread really want me to sell my go...
