Re: This May Shock You: The Electoral College Is Essential For Our Politics

What about proportional electoral college? A couple states do that already, so there must be some constitutional way around the normal method? Yes, any state that wants to award their electoral votes proportionately is free to do so. And I heartily recommend that California lead the way by awarding...

Re: Increasing The Odds Of High-Quality Longevity

I read an article quite a while back about a fellow who was planning to change his medical plans at age 75. At that point, nothing which is intended to prolong life. Yes, treatment for a broken arm or for discomfort or dental stuff or whatever. But no heart bypasses, stents, no CPR, and I think eve...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I see that Biden has promised to nominate a black woman. So there you have it. Are the Republicans going to continue to perpetuate systemic racism by putting a white woman on the court in a seat that should rightfully belong to a woman of color? I guess it wouldn't be 2020 if the race wasn't all ab...

Re: Increasing The Odds Of High-Quality Longevity

My parents lived to 92 (Dad) and 98 (Mom). Neither one had Alzheimer's despite high carb diets with non-diet coke being their favorite drink and a bowl of ice cream every night before bed. Grandparents on both sides had the same longevity with my paternal grandmother dying a few days before her 100...

Nothing could go wrong with such a brilliant plan.

Re: This May Shock You: The Electoral College Is Essential For Our Politics

A side issue to this is, we shouldn't get worked up when a person gets elected president while losing the popular vote. If the popular vote was what counted, the campaigns would be quite a bit different. They would concentrate on the big states. And people who live in a rock solid red or blue state...

Re: Increasing The Odds Of High-Quality Longevity

And, there is the well documented, strong association between Alzheimer's and type 2 diabetes - so much so that AD is often referred to as "type 3 diabetes", and metabolic mechanisms have been proposed and are being investigated. Since type 2 diabetes is increasing dramatically, it's hard to imagin...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I was wondering exactly how the Democrats will manage to savage a woman candidate without looking seriously ridiculous. If they suggest she's not qualified they'll be open to discrimination charges, if not outright slander. And the usual sexual abuse stories will be a lot harder to find. I guess we...

45% of US LGBT men plan to vote for Trump

"A recent survey of 1,200 queer men in the United States found that 45 percent planned on voting for Republican President Donald Trump. Comparatively, 51 percent said they would vote for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden." ... "Of the 1,200 men living in the United States, 49 percent said ...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I said this before on a different thread: it will almost certainly be Barbara Lagoa. She ticks the immigrant family, minority, and female boxes, thus presenting the smallest possible attack surface for the Democrat dirty tricks.

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Does anybody here believe for one minute that if the Dems were in control they wouldn't be doing exactly what the Republicans are? Of course they would. They're all politicians and hypocrisy is the name of the game. Exactly. Shame on them for what they would probably do. Speaking of hypocrisy I jus...
