I need to buy some gold!
I really want to buy a nice amount of gold overseas and have it stored in a vault in Singapore or Austria. But I have no clue how to proceed. Which makes the whole thing pretty scary. Knowing who to trust, etc. Seems like it would be better done in person. But that's not in the cards. Has anyone her...

Re: Let's Discuss Non-Citizens Voting Rights
What about people to flock to a state other than the one they actually reside in, to cast votes? Are you in favor of that? Let's say 10,000 Alabamans know their state is going to vote for the republican presidential candidate even without them. So they cross the state line and vote for the same guy ...

To clarify, I wasn't even saying that masks don't work or anything of the sort. Only that I can't wait for them to be over. And that simple thought is a thought crime.

Re: REAL Inflation Rate is Less than 1%
I have never bothered much with the conspiracy theories of government inflation numbers being suppressed. But they are. My god, $100 buying name brand products at the grocery store, barely covers the bottom of the shopping cart. Housing is computed all wrong. They ask homeowners what their home woul...

Re: Buying Union Made Items
I agree. Chicago is now seeing unprecedented inflows of families moving to their school districts. The educational quality is off the charts because of the Chicago teachers union. Chicago already had one of the worst school systems in the country prior to Covid. It's hard to believe the union manag...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Last night at a restaurant dinner with a couple of friends and wives, I made the comment, "This is not political, but I am just tired of wearing masks. Fogging glasses blah blah blah." They looked at me as if I had farted. Would not even engage the conversation. It made me feel like the s...

Re: Buying Union Made Items
Tom, if you want to be a new Democrat like me, you need to get with the times. Our guy Joe B says to let China make and sell us things. They are good allies, and need our help more than our workers do. As to the union guys who produce real stuff, Joe says they just need to learn to code. I'm sure he...

Re: Thoughts on my recent rebalancing history
Back when I started out by reading John Bogle, I thought the studies showed that rebalancing actually has very little impact versus just letting things run. Maybe it was some other author who studied this.

I thought that if you had the bug, you were only recommended to get the 1st shot. It seems like you might be taxing your immune system, which is already in overdrive.mathjak107 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 6:12 pm Thanks ....it has been picking up a bit again as we open up more and more here .

Now will be the test, then.
I'm belted in and going to be the crash test dummy.
However I will not be buying more to restore balances.

Eurotrash nonsense written by a World Improver. (Topics like this make me glad we are not on Bogleheads.) So, we should do something that would kill life insurance companies, investors, and pension funds. BUT, we will then bail them out with our super duper new money. Created from....? In other word...

I walked up 4 flights of stairs while wearing a mask, and it was noticeably harder on me than normal. I don't know if that says more about masks, or me. It was a thick homemade mask. So I hope it was just the mask.

Seven hours after shot one of Moderna. No arm soreness, no other effects either so far. Needle was the smallest ever. If I didn’t see it go in I wouldn’t have known. Where did you get it? Strange question, I know. But someone I know needs to find a second shot of Moderna in northern IL after gettin...

And I just wanted to mention she is alive today because of science . But not all science is the same. The problem isn't so much with science, it's with scientists or medical professionals, etc. upon whom the vast majority of us have to rely for information. These people are human, they make mistake...

Yes I read it that lifting of mask mandates caused a 1 to 2 percent increase in cases, and the same for in person dining. And they are reporting that as “significant”.
I actually hoped masking was reasonably worthwhile.

Re: Dr Seuss
As a libertarian (with a small l by the way), I agree that Amazon or the foundation can stop selling the books. That doesn’t mean the reasons are not incredibly moronic. Are libertarians not allowed to talk about that? I think you have a dumb, caricature-ish view of libertarianism. Has anyone here c...
