Re: California will show them!
I really need to start a website like the nuclear war doomsday clock, for the breakup of the US. I’ll start by saying we are closer to midnight than we’ve been since the 1800s.

Re: I think it’s time to move into crypto
A couple of newbie crypto people in my life tell me that in the US, everything is being reported. They mean by the exchanges and brokers and businesses. I tried the what about? questions but their reply was that if you want to do anything useful with it, it is reported. My specific question to the f...

With acupuncture at least, all you’ve got to lose if it doesn’t work is some money.

Re: Alternatives to Modern Medicine
I have had very good results from acupuncture. So has my wife. I tried it for headaches after not one but two neurologists suggested it. I made it a point to NOT research it, so that I didn’t get turned off by the implausible sounding theories. It helps me with headaches and some muscles and joints...

Re: International stocks?
I’ve had half of our stock money in Ftse xUS for 12 years. Most of the 12 the SP500 has outperformed. My day is coming! ;) FWIW most of my international exposure is actually in actively managed funds. I know active funds aren't theoretically supposed to outperform (but see Note 1 below) index funds...

Chief, if it was easy, everyone would do it. That old line packs a lot of wisdom inside a few words.
As to HB, who knows. He made big money as a speculator, speaker, and newsletter publisher.

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?
I know quite a few people who have made themselves nicely comfortable by buying and renting houses and small plexes. It’s as old as dirt. The tax code is very favorable if you actively manage. You get business deductions. Including health care. You can start this business without a lot of capital. I...

My friend said people were being allowed to go inside. He also said some of the people trying to agitate the crowd did not look right. Which anyone who has followed reports from places other than the ruling party organs has heard already.

Re: Feds accused of seizing $85 million from safe deposit boxes without 'any legal basis'
The whole civil forfeiture thing is a glimpse into what governments will do to your rights if no one stops them. Although it was another branch of the government that stopped a different branch from doing so? True and good point. But, the courts are relatively pliant and weak in most societies. Loo...

Re: Somebody please tell me this ain't so (Arrest for mere presence at capitol on 1/6)
I personally know someone who was visited at home by two FBI agents because someone reported him as having been at the capitol. Which he was. He said the interview was cordial. But that can obviously vary by individual team and their own biases. They told him they were pulled off their regular dutie...

Re: Falling yields
Anyone want to speculate as to why Millenials are not reproducing? Could it be low testosterone in the males? Or the fact that obese, tattooed feminists with purple hair are not appealing to men? Or maybe the men are smart enough to realize that family law courts are going to destroy them in 7 year...

I’m in my sixties and I’ve never seen wages go down. They are going up now, a lot. Does anyone think they will retreat? If not, doesn’t that spell sustained inflation?

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?
We have been on both sides of dual agency transactions. The conflicts of interest are obvious and uncomfortable. We think we got a bit taken advantage of when we were the sellers, and it turned out that the buyers were good friends of the agent. Now, we were adults and we made the decisions during n...

We could have an overheating economy in the short term. I see signs everywhere that the US is awash in money. Put it this way, people with money are on a spending spree.
But I also sympathize with the deflation trends argument.
I like the PP.

Inflation is here. But the bond market must feel the Fed will manage it. It’s a high wire act for sure.

Re: Feds accused of seizing $85 million from safe deposit boxes without 'any legal basis'
This is why I've never been keen on the idea of keeping gold in a bank safety deposit box. I've always thought of banks as quasi-government entities so why would you want to put your gold someplace where the biggest gang of thieves in the world can get to it? In the cases above, it was a private bo...
