Re: Hooray! Forum is back up!

The extended outages were towards the end of the Craig/Tex era, where they really had moved on to other things. There wasn't anybody running the ship to fix whatever might pop up, and because of a less-than-optimal host, things did pop up. It hasn't been a problem lately. Every once in a while the ...

Re: IAU Taxes w/Fidelity and TurboTax

I'm with era, Pug, I'm not sure that makes sense. I've held IAU in taxable with Ameritrade and have never received information about these microtransactions from them. This is the first I'm hearing that other brokers do it. To be honest I've always figured it was de minimus and could be ignored. So...

Re: Hooray! Forum is back up!

Vinny,

There were several alternative hangouts during a period when there were repeated and extended forum outages. When they switched to a new server and new software, the problem got resolved so there were no longer a need for the alts, and they just died off.

Re: IAU Taxes w/Fidelity and TurboTax

I am a fan of Fidelity, but why can't you just buy IAU in your Vanguard account? There is now no commissions there either. I would definitely prefer that - but based on this thread: https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=250680 It does not appear that Vanguard handles gold ETF expens...

It will be interesting to see where this goes from here and how much longer the good times last.
If anyone wants to take the other side, I would be willing to bet big $ that the good times last at least until after the election in Nov.

Re: Forum / Team?

I simply grew disgusted with the tenor of the political discussions here. I will say that when I initially joined the board, I was primarily curious about the PP. In particular, the idea that it was generally a "set it and forget it" portfolio was appealing to my nature. I also noted that the PP-re...

I will again comment that my Model 3 is awesome. I've had it since May, and I will likely never go back to a gasoline fueled car again.

There is a chat area for members now. Look at the top menu bar.
Is this something of the past? I don't see it.

Vinny
We tried it and it didn't work out well, so Craig got rid of it.

No offense intended, but I'll delete. C'mon, you laughed.
Admit I chuckled. You didn't need to delete it, but thanks for the respect.
