Re: Stock and ETF brokerage costs plunge

The average price improvement is $5.80/trade over 11 trades in the past 12 months. What does it work out to on a per share basis? Anything like 1.4 cents per share? Everyone going to zero commissions really starts putting the focus on smaller and smaller and finer and finer points about order flow,...

Re: Estate Taxes

I'd think that would have the same problems as the wealth tax. If your parents liked to collect art or cars or nice tools or some other non-financial things, and passed them down to you, you'd have to get them appraised, then come up with 15% of their value to pay to the government? What if a paren...

Re: Estate Taxes

Inheritances are income to the receiving party. Forget the estate tax. Tax it within the income tax regime. I'd think that would have the same problems as the wealth tax. If your parents liked to collect art or cars or nice tools or some other non-financial things, and passed them down to you, you'...

What happened to us? https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/victor-davis-hanson-generations-giants You don't seem to be the type to be reading Fox News. But VDH already answered your question in the piece: Ridiculous layers of government and their respective regulations, special interest groups and their ...

Re: Stock and ETF brokerage costs plunge

More today from Paul Novell... you can avoid any concerns by using market on close (MOC) orders as I advocate doing anyway. With MOC orders your orders get executed at the NYSE, there's no dark pool shenanigans, and you get the closing price, without any bid/ask spread. And now with zero commission...

How is the status, e.g., Executive Member, of a Member in this forum determined?

Vinny
By your total # of posts. You achieve the highest 'executive' status at either 100 or 150. I can't remember.

Re: Estate Taxes

Why wait until you die? Sanders' wealth tax plan would would raise a $4.35 trillion over 10 years, Saez and Zucman estimated, to pay for programs such as "Medicare for all" and universal child care. It would apply to households with a net worth above $32 million, which is about 180,000 households —...

Re: Gold / Stock / Bonds at highs or near highs?

Another strategy: wait until the PP as a whole goes through a negative performing couple of months and then buy in. This is a great idea. I disagree. I think this is a terrible idea. What if the next time the PP has sustained negative returns is 10 years from now? You think waiting 10 years for tha...

Estate Taxes

There is a certain hereditary aspect given the staggering levels of wealth being transferred from one generation to another with little or no tax. If I work hard to earn, and then save instead of spend, I feel like I should be able to bequeath my already taxed money to whomever I want upon my passi...
