Re: An odd choice for a VP: Wellesley

I just celebrated my 69th birthday have long thought about how I could make our investments easier for my wife after I'm gone and had considered that perhaps moving everything to a Wellesley + Gold allocation would be the simplest for her to manage with Vanguard doing most of the "managing" within t...

Re: BelangP - Retirement Planning

Thanks for the link! The whole time I was watching the video I was wondering what the PP (or GB) allocation might look like on a “Wealth Multiplier” chart. Tyler if you think this is might be another good way to look at investment strategies (and there isn’t already something similar on Portfolio Ch...

I have a sizable amount of my "cash" allocation in a 401k Mass Mutual stable value/Fixed Account that guarantees 3%/yr. "The Fixed Account is not a mutual fund. It is an investment choice available through a group annuity contract or group funding agreement." My plan was to draw from it as needed. I...

Re: Golden Butterfly Portfolio

My simplistic way of potentially dealing with rebalancing a GB (which is just a HBPP + 20% VB for me) was to track the HBPP portion separately and when the HBPP portion hits a 15%/35% limit on any of the HBPP assets I would rebalance everything back to a GB allocation (20% in all 5 assets). My ratio...

Re: Estate Taxes

Why wait until you die? Sanders' wealth tax plan would would raise a $4.35 trillion over 10 years, Saez and Zucman estimated, to pay for programs such as "Medicare for all" and universal child care. It would apply to households with a net worth above $32 million, which is about 180,000 households — ...

Re: American Asset Management Inc.

Here's an article which would seem to suggest that American Asset Management does not strictly adhere to the standard HBPP philosophy of holding 4x25% at all times. During this period of political transition, cash has become king for some investors. Among them is Julian Rubinstein, founder and presi...

Re: The Top 4 Portfolios to Recession-Proof Your Investments

Cue the Twiglight Zone theme song! Yesterday I heard friend of mine who is a high net worth individual financial advisor (you should see his "yacht!") who was keeping 20% of his assets in cash and advocating that if you can get 3% unrisked you should jump on it. That got me thinking more than usual ...

Re: 3 years of PP returns

Taylor's portfoliocharts site is an incredibly informative resource for seeing the expected range of performance of the PP and a good many other portfolios after 3 years. For the PP, the historic real CAGRs after 3 yrs is -0.4% minimum, 4.4% median and 11.2% maximum so really anything between a -0.4...

I’d love better minds than mine give me their opinion.

Thanks!

Carnac The Magnificence's 2019 Predictions

Agnostics aside, over the years it has been fun to see the range of what people think the various assets will perform in the upcoming year.

What %change do you foresee for each of the various PP assets (stocks, bonds, gold, cash) as well as the overall PP?

Actually, since 30% don't plan on having kids and by the time they are 58 their Boomer parents will have died leaving them their house and a sizable inheritance, being worth a million 20 years from now is pretty feasible.
