Re: GLD in 401 K
I have all the needed parts outside of a long term treasury option to create a complete PP inside the 401k. The closest fixed income option will be the Pimco Total Return Fund ( PTTRX) and that will be not be an adequate subsitute. Alternatively, I can have the long term treasury outside the 401k in...

GLD in 401 K
I have multiple portfolios spread across retirement and non retirement accounts comprising my master PP. Recently, GLD has been provided as an option in my company's 401k. I currently have about 20 % of my gold allocation in GLD spread across both retirement and non retirement accounts. My plan is...

Emergency Fund
How does one treat a portion of their 401k as an emergency fund? I have some cash in mine that i would like to either invest in a fund ( fidelity new market index , FNMIX) within my 401k as part of my emergency fund allocation or simply count it as emergency fund cash. This same 401 K account holds ...

Re: Gold mart
Thanks for sharing. Realize in my earlier post i had my order date as June 27. It actually is June 21. I have however noted your two week turn around time and hopefully mine gets resolved in a similar fashion.
Re: Gold mart
It does say "processing". Outside of this experience, my previous interactions with them mirrors yours. Its just disconcerting especially with it being my biggest order and no communication whatsoever. I hope i hear from them relatively quickly.
Gold mart
I made my biggest gold coin purchases yet from Goldmart on 06/27/12. This is my 4 th time making a purchase from them and its all been a very smooth process. However, this time around after i wired my money to them the next day, i have not received any communication from the company and it has alread...

Re: Converting existing 401k into permanent portfolio
Kevin W, 1. I have other other assets more than the roth ira and the 401k. I have merged all 3 separate permanent portfolios in my taxable account into a big one and manage it as such. 2.I agree with your choice of vfinx. What about adding the Vanguard Mid-Cap Growth Index to the mix since it cove...
