Re: Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris

I voted for Bruce Lee, but in full disclosure, I figured that was the fight scene that was on the youtube video as I had seen the movie years ago. I always liked the respect Bruce Lee shows for Chuck Norris by covering his face and placing his belt on him. I remember a quote from one of my instructo...

Romney Tells Donors He Is Considering 2016 White House Bid More like 3 strikes and you're out!  Just my opinion.  Even if he received the Republican nomination, all the arguments from 2012 will surface against him in terms of his remarks about the 47%, that he is a rich guy that...

Well, whoever that person was a few years ago that asked the question, "Where's the beef?" obviously didn't go to Arby's.  BTW, do you all remember what A-R-B-Y-S stands for:  America's Roast Beef Yes Sir!

It's a Christian liberal-arts college.  Isn't that an oxymoron?  I imagine freethinkers like me aren't too welcome.  After all, its in Missouri.  That's like the state with a massive population of Evangelicals, isn't it? I really get tired of this left and right divide. Yes, it is called the "...

[quote-dualstow] I cannot believe I held onto things like cassette tapes for so many years, believing that one day I would actually digitize them or even listen to them. Re: Russian Fighter Jet Buzzes US Navy Ship What Should We Do?

When I was a firing platoon leader on a missile site in South Korea in the mid-1970s, we would receive an update when a Soviet spy satellite would be overhead.  On one occasion, I assembled the platoon and at the time the Soviet spy satellite was overhead, we gave them the "middle finger salute...

My grandfather was a "wagon master" in General Pershing's American Expeditionary Force (AEF) that went to France during WWI.  Since he had worked with a team of horses delivering fuel oil for Standard Oil in Chicago, the Army gave him a team of horses and a wagon and he delivered supplies ...

I was sorry to see that Tom Laughlin passed away.  In the second movie, the Trial of Billy Jack, they filmed one scene right out side my dorm (Kaibab-Huachuca) at the University of Arizona.  It was the scene where they stop a school bus from the school and one of the cops frisks one of the girls.  M...

Re: What kind of dog should I get?

We all have our opinions when it comes to dogs.  Our female lab, that we had for over 14 years was the sweetest, gentle dog you could own.  When I was deployed and someone tried to break into the house while my wife was home, this sweet dog turned protective!  We had her before our son was born and ...

The one time my mother really spanked me was because I had lied to her about where I got a dime.  I said I found it but in reality my grandmother had given it to me.  Yes, I know a dime doesn't sound like much now but it bought two packs of baseball cards back in 1962.  Anyway, the thing I remember ...

Boats and RVs: Rent. Don't. Buy. Rent. Don't Buy. LOL... yes, I generally agree.  Or at the very least, buy used.  The depreciation hit for new boats appears to be even larger than that of cars.  There seem to be plenty of good used boats on the market to choose from. After the normal 4 x 20, I would put the remaining 20% in my VP which would consist of several dividend growth stocks.  I would purposely reinvest the dividends to purchase more shares.  These would be solid, established, blue chip companies such as Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Coke, P&G, etc -- and ma...

I would agree with MT.  My choice is also ExxonMobil. Bought my first 30 shares in 1982 and have been adding to it ever since.  I add to my position at least quarterly through XOM's DRIP plan.  Makes up a substantial portion of my VP.

I was at our local Academy Sports Store the other day.
