Does anyone have any sage words of advice - are things going to get better for LTT? Keep DCA'ing and hang in there? Retool my PP? What? Well, HB said in his radio show that one asset class will always be performing poorly. But... it doesn't make it any easier to tolerate. A family member in our sel...

For something a bit more modern, here's the exams for the end of Australian High School. The rest of the plans options consist of plenty of good equity index funds, and a few target date funds. What my best options here? Right now I'm debating between the following options. 1. Keep the 50/50 equities/total bond fund portfolio with the non-treasuries since the credit quality is listed a...

Another great Buffett interview from back in the day that's on the more difficult side to find now. Thanks Smithy, that was interesting. <snip> I thoroughly believe that the typical investor, particularly ones of the boglehead variety, drastically underestimates: 1. Their overall risk of ruin 2. Their own risk tolerance when facing massive loses and where the bottom is unknown 3. How much "timing", e.g. the unexpected loss...

Re: Are you always taking a bath on at least one asset?

I think both gold and Bitсoin are assets that should be kept in reserve with a wait-and-see policy regarding their deployment. In other words, during a true currency crisis, one should wait until the economic and political situation stabilizes before deploying these hard assets. This is in contrast...

Re: Are you always taking a bath on at least one asset?

I guess more generally, how do folks here psychology insulate themselves from the tracking error inherent in these types of portfolios? Interestingly enough, I find it easier with just two items (Gold & VDCO). All the rebalancing between Bonds & Shares is not seen, and my mindset is that Go...
